Itinerary Suggestions for NYC

Sorry for the repost, thought I had chosen NY the first time but must not have!

We'll be arriving at LGA next Tuesday at 10:30 in the morning, leaving again on Friday at 4 in the afternoon. I have a rough itinerary done up, please give any input on it.

Day 1
Get checked in to hotel, check out the neighborhood
Take subway down to Brooklyn, dinner at Grimaldi's
Check out Jacque Torres for some hot chocolate
If the weather's not too crazy, walk the bridge back to Manhattan and take subway back to hotel

Day 2
NYC Fire Museum
Lombardi's for lunch
Ground Zero
FDNY Memorial
Staten Island Ferry to check out Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline
Katz's takeout for dinner

Day 3
Explore Greenwich/Chinatown/whatever else in the morning
Quick lunch
McSorley's for a beer (or two or three)
John's on Bleecker for dinner (sensing a theme here? I'm all about the pizza)
Top of the Rock

Day 4
Central Park
Gray's Papaya for lunch

We're pretty flexible, but are trying to plan things out a bit. If there's time, we might go to Time's Square for a quick visit. Also, we'll rearrange a little if we're able to get discounted tickets to a show we'd like to see. We'd just like to get some feedback on what we have so far. Thanks for looking!

There is only 1 US board so ALL posts go to one place. The feature you mentioned is really for searching.

I think you've allowed too much time for Brooklyn/Grimaldi's/Jacques Torres unless you plan to eat dinner at 4:00. I'd do something else in Manhattan before you head over to Brooklyn --

Just a word of caution - make sure you have really, really good directions to Grimaldi's - it's really hard to find if it's your first time!! My husband and I have lived in the city for years and still got lost trying to find it...

dmlove - I think we're planning to spend some time wandering the neighborhood of our hotel before heading to Brooklyn later that afternoon/evening.

atodhun - Do you know if there is a post with good directions to Grimaldi's in it that I can search for?

And it's a good thing we're keeping a flexible itinerary. I just received a phone call that we were matched up with a Big Apple Greeter for our first morning in town. It's a greeter's choice tour, so we'll see where he takes us and plan the rest of the trip from there.

The directions to Grimaldi's on mapquest are fine, just be sure you take them with you (we left them in our hotel room, and after wandering around for 15 minutes, we had to call the restaurant to get directions from where we were standing, and even then, in the end, it was just "voila - there it is!")

Thanks dmlove, I'll have to remember to print some of these things off before we leave.

My husband and I were just in New York and had a Big Apple Greeter Tour. It was down as a Greeter's Choice and we toured a very small section of Brooklyn. Our greeter's name was Jane. It was a great tour. Enjoy!

Glad to hear a good review of Big Apple Greeters. We just booked our trip a little over a week ago, so have had very little time to plan. I stumbled on the Big Apple Greeters a couple of days after booking and was hoping we would get to do a tour. You can't beat a free tour done by a local in NYC.
