Italian Restaurants near Omni East Hotel in Chicago

My boyfriend and I are traveling to chicago for a few days at the end of July. I was just wondering if anyone new of a good Italian restaurant in the vicinity of the Omni East that we might try for his birthday.

Tasha8182,

For starters, you might contact the hotel. They will at least have some ideas you can then explore further. Hotels have TONS of information available just by asking.

One of the highest ranked places (by the Tribune and Chicago Mag) in the city is Spiaggia, 980 N. Michigan. I have not been, the prices are a little much for me

If you want something a little more modest, you will find several Italian places over on Rush Street, Carmine's at 1043 N. Rush, Rosebud on Rush at 720 N. Rush. I have not been to either as my personal favorite is Rosebud over on Taylor Street but that is not close to the Omni.

Or Cafe Luciano which I recently tried was good, 871 N. Rush, but I thought it was kind of loud in the restaurant

Friends of mine have recommended Volare on Grand, the reviews on Metromix are mostly positive

For a very special(EXPENSIVE) and wonderfully delicious italian meal, you must go to Spiaggia on Michigan. It is always good and the service is perfect. For a less expensive meal, eat at Cafe Spiaggia, next door. The views are not as nice and the menu is more limited, but it is still yummy. For a romantic meal, try Pane Caldo on Walton. Also, although I have never eaten at this restaurant, many people recommend Luciano's on Rush. It is a more casual restaurant. Check out metromix.com for other dining suggestions.

I think that I decided on Geja's for the birthday dionner, but we are going to try Spiaggia another night as well. What is the dresscode like for each of these restaurants?
