In my opinion, unless you want guarenteed 90 degree weather in January, mark Aruba off your list. Too many other prettier islands that are much closer.
Don't get me wrong, I love the scrub desert topography of Aruba but Mexico also has this and it is closer and cheaper.

I second GoTravel.....cross out Aruba.I may get blasted for this, but I find it to be way over-rated and having a too great-mass-appeal for my taste. I MUCH MUCH prefer Mexico....its closer, cheaper, easier, and prettier than Aruba.The snorkeling is MUCH better as well.
