Is this a fair price

We booked a preview package at the Westin Maui for $750 for 5 nights in what I'm sure is a parking lot view. They would upgrade to a ocean view for an additional $650 for a total of $1400. We need a second room and to book it outright would be $381/night at the SPG rate. Is there any hope of getting a second preview package or a better rate at check in? Should we change the reservation to minimum room categories and hope for upgrade on checkin.

The rooms for the preview package are overlooking the parking lot. Just keep in mind that if you book an ocean view and need another room, I am sure that for the price you mentioned it won't be an OV also. Your family would be seperated. I wouldn't hope for an upgrade at this hotel because it is one heck of a busy place. It also depends on what time of year you are going. The SPG rate is the cheapest you will find. They don't have any cheaper rates at the front desk.

Are "preview" rooms/units really the worst views etc ? After all, they are hoping to impress you into buying a timeshare.
Just curious, anyone else have direct experience with this place or the Marriott Kaanapali which offers similar deals ?

We stayed at the Westin on a similar promotion about 3 years ago. I asked for complimentary upgrade at check in but never got it, eventhough the hotel was not full. Our room overlooked the front parking lot and hotel entrance. It is really "mountain" view (per Westin) as you can see the mountain from your balcony and you can see the parking lot below you.

Hi there,
I would like to book a preview package. How can I do this? I am an SPG member. And the funny thing is that we ARE definitely interested in a timeshare for the new Kaanapali North villas. We plan on visiting Maui, the second week of December.
Thanks.
