Well, Greg lives in the next stop to heaven, so there aren't many places nicer than home...

No, I don't live in New Canaan (too expensive), just nearby. Seriously, it's called the next stop to heaven on metro north. I think it's where the creators of "Stepford Wives" drew their inspiration.

I suppose I could live anywhere and be happy. All I need is a public library, cable TV, and a car so I don't feel trapped.

Black Hills South Dakota. Pretty scenery, but too much in the boondocks for me.

I've spent part of my life living in a city and visiting the country, and part of my life living in the country and visiting the city. Definitely prefer the latter. Big cities are great to visit, but it's soo nice to get back to the peace and quiet of my New England farm. I could see myself living in Tuscany or California wine country for a few months, but I still prefer my present location for long term. On the other hand, there are not many places in the world that I don't enjoy visiting!

Anywhere that it snows. I wouldn't live anyplace where the temps get under 70 in the winter. An occaisional cold snap I can live with.

Love to visit......any big city.
Could never live there......any big city.
Good thing we all have different opinions! I'll take living in the boondocks anyday over noise, grime, crime, traffic jams and high rent for small living space.

Another vote for any place where it snows. I couldn't deal with it.

Ditto on the snow and also on Humidity. I think Charleston, SC is beautiful, but I can't take the weather.

Florida. Fabulous place to vacation, wouldn't live there for all the tea in China.

Couldn't live in: Massachusetts-Rhode Island-Connecticut-New Jersey-Maryland-PA (too cold, too many taxes, too liberal); Anchorage-AK (rough around the edges, long winter nights, aggressive biting insects); Florida (too hot and rainy, too flat, too old); California (too crowded, too polluted, too expensive); Midwest (too flat and boring); Washington D.C. (too transient and superficial in a political way, too much racial division); Hawaii (too far from anywhere else); Louisiana-MS-Tennessee-Kentucky-WVA (too much living in the past); Southern Arizona (too hot in the summer); Michigan-Wisconsin-ND-SD-MN) (too cold in the winter). That pretty much sums it up.

Loved visiting New Orleans but couldn't live there. Vegas too.

20 years ago I thought I would die if I had to live in NYC. Now I think I could do it assuming I could afford to do it well.

Previous poster said all they needed was a library, a car and cable tv and they could live anywhere. I would add an airport within an hour drive. I could be happy anywhere but would not relocate while my kids are in school.
