I don't think so. There are Metra trains that go up that way but not through Gurnee. It doesn't look like Greyhound stops in Gurnee although they would be going right by there on the way from Chi. to Milw. Gurnee is quite a ways north of the city too, almost to the WI line.

Take a look at www.rtachicago.com and enter your hotel info and Great America into the trip planner. It looks like you can take a train from Union Station to Waukegan and then a Pace bus to Great America. At an estimated 2 hour trip, it would take about twice as long to get there as opposed to using a car.

Hi SaraLou and Kristi,Thanks for your helpful advice. It seems like too much trouble to take the transit system...
Takes too long to get there too!! If those are my only options I guess I'll pass.I'm sure a transfer service would be way too expensive to try.Oh well,I'm sure Chicago has alot to offer without having to go out of the city. Can't wait to visit. It looks like a great city!
Thanks,Debbie

I used to live directly across the street from the park and dont remember a bus stop, but the Waukegan train station is pretty close. It is not in a safe part of town though. Maybe a day at Wrigley is a better idea.

Sorry don't think that is an option either Deb. PACE buses run in Lake Co. where Six Flags is located. CTA buses only run in Cook CO (and maybe only to the Chicago city limit but not sure). So unless you are talking about a Greyhound bus then there will be no bus going to Waukegan or Gurnee. As far as taxi from Waukegan to Gurnee that would be pretty inpossible as well. Waukegan is a small town,it is not a part of the city and nowhere near it. There are no taxis in Waukegan. I can only think of two option to get to Six Flags from downtown 1) rent a car and take I-90 to I-94 and get off at Gurnee, takes about a 50-60 min but much longer in rush hour on weekdays 2) you might call six flags and see if they have any shuttle buses that run to the major hotels downtown.

HI Sunlover,Thank you for the info.I was referring to Greyhound out of Chicago.I'm glad you chimed in to let me know there were no taxis available in
Waukegan.....wouldn't I have been suprised?!!! I'm going to take your suggestion to contact Six Flags and see if there are any Shuttle Buses to the Park from Chicago. Thanks Again,Debbie
