p.s.
There's a few proposals out there to use the windmill power off the cape strictly for the cape use only.

If Ted Kennedy has his way it won't happen.

Apologies ahead for the hijack

Very common in Colorado, too, at ski resorts; swim outdoors in the middle of winter.

That's not true...it's a private company that will sell the power right to the power companies. It is not strictly a "Cape Only" proposal....

Not to mention that the cost of the wind power is about twice the cost per kw than what we have now.

From what your both saying it sounds like a done deal and the other proposals have been nixed.
My apologies, as I haven't kept up lately due to intense board examinations.
I do however know that my electric bill down there is off the charts.

cybor, it's not a 'done deal' yet.

The OP did say that the Wentworth has a large hot tub not an outdoor pool.

thanks for the comments about cape electricity cost. I too apologize for the hijack. It's been real frustrating for us who pay bills on the Cape. I keep the house at 68 year round...my bad in the Summer. i wish there was an affordable solution for a personal windmill!

I've been to a few ski areas in NH/VT that have outdoor pools open in the winter. They're usually half-and-half and have a barrier that you have to swim under. The surface of the outdoor area were covered with plastic balls that help keep the heat in. But I've never seen one on the Cape. I don't think the Cape gets enough tourists in the winter (and those that come generally enjoy very low off-season rates) to warrant this kind of amenity. The ski areas, on the other hand, are in their "high" season in the winter.

Well it sounds like we will head North next weekend rather than the Cape. Even though there are no pools open at the Cape, are there no outdoor hot tubs open all year?

cybor - at Anchorage in Ogunquit and at Wentworth By The Sea they are not pools but hot tubs that are outside and open all year.
