Is the Rain in Boston Really That Bad...
I heard Boston has gotten some rain lately ;-) ... How bad is it? I am still planning my trip (June 10-28) and I am still very much looking forward to it. Rain doesn't scare me. LOL! I was there last May when I was holding on to my umbrella for dear life.
It is just that someone told me something about Boston calling it a "National Disaster" - I didn't get all the details ... I just want to make sure that I am still able to have a good time. (I just won't picnic on the grass!

I guess I should have searched on here first! - I would have found plenty of answers to my questions

Well, I'm going to have a good time no matter what! (But it appears that everything should be ok by the time I get to town)
I'll be in Rockport/Gloucester for a few days first ... I just hope I can live out my fantasies of eating lobster on the beach

The Sun is OUT!!!! Many roads that were underwater re-opened with no problem. I haven't been following the Boston news since I have to make a circuitous trip to get to work and Monday had to leave early because there wasn't any electricity. Not sure where to find a good lobster place in Rockport/Gloucester. You might ask the question on Chowhound. If you are really desperate, many grocery stores will cook a lobster for you. Grab some potato salad from the deli and hit the beach. Our favorite lobster shack in Maine is on the water. When we first found it, there were only a few picnic tables out in the open. We still prefer the picnic tables in the sun so advise people to wear hats and sunglasses ... and of course, we both sit facing the water.

For us in the metro-west area..it's over, but places on the North Shore are still sufferng.. If y our going to be in Boston, near the Trinity Church.. try Skipjacks for great lobster salad.. There is also a half price theatre booth in Copley Square.. June is a great time. and don't forget the Duck Tour..it can be booked on line..

LOL!
Sorry guys, I wasn't asking where to get lobster

I was making a comment that the ground might be to wet ...
I actually have my heart set on the Roy Moore Lobster Company in Rockport ...
Thanks for the other suggestions though!
I'm so glad things are drying up

The rain really was that bad! We are getting a break today, and possibly tomorrow, depending on which weather report you read. As for eating lobster on the beach and worrying about the ground being dry, hey it's a beach! Of course it won't be dry
The worst hit areas are away from the shore - Lawrence, Methuen, Andover, parts of NH - not exactly big tourist spots.
Sorry to disappoint on the cheap theater in Copley, but it's now a full price Barney's.

Just got back from a Boston trip 5/17-20. We actually had sunshine, with some rain Friday morning. All the flooding is up North. Just saw a few puddles here and there in Boston. Drove to Plimoth Plantation Friday in the rain. Stopped raining when we got there. ground was wet but not muddy.

The rain was really a disaster for thousands of people who have suffered many uninsurable dollars of damage - but damage is now only evident in several smaller cities north of Boston.
And at least this week we are actually having a Spring season in Boston instead of going from blizzard to heat wave. Enjoy your re-visit to Boston, but don't bother listening to weather reports more than 24 hours out - they are wrong.
