I know that the entertainment book offers good discounts on hotel rooms but what if I already have my hotel rooms? Is the book still worth the cost? I will be visiting 4 islands, but only 2 nights will be on Oahu. I mention that only because I have heard that the discounts are mostly for services on Oahu. I am interested mostly in activity/admission discounts and high end restaurants (which usually do not offer discounts of any kind anyway). Please let me know if the book will be of benefit in my situation.

i would say not. i bought it for years for travel but the best deals are the hotel discounts. the restaurant coupons often have restrictions regarding time, days, etc. which would be inconvenient on a vacation.

I wouldn't buy it for a vacation spot, but I buy it every year for my local area. The hotels listed in the book are in EVERY Entertainment Book, not just the one for that city. W use the discounts at our local restaurants all the time.

I have just recieved my 2002 book
there are some fantastic buy one entree get one free deals in there for very good restaurants plus the usual kfc pizza hut deals there are practically no restrictions on these.
also if you dont like it you can send it back!!!!

Like the above posts, I like the local book for the retaurant deals, but never buy the ones for my travel destinations. I have found that the hotel deals are usually unavailable for peak vacation periods, but I have gotten good hotel deals off-season.

I disagree. Even if you skip Oahu altogether the E book will pay for itself in not only 2 for 1 meals/fast food or treats (ice cream, etc), but remember the snorkel, dive, parasail etc excursions, and tours/luau's/dinner and sightseeing cruises! If you go to Maui don't miss Jameson's Restaurant in
Kapalua (in the book under fine dining). But I don't mind doing a little research to make sure I get the most out of my book (like using detailed maps to see IN ADVANCE which E-book restaurants are near to my location or planned driving routes).

Be aware that there are many more hotels listed at the website that aren't listed in the book (throughout the U.S. and some int'l locations as well, including the Caribbean and Mexico)

It seems like they just made it so that you have to register online with your card # in order to access these listings, though.

Another thing I found is that telling a hotel that you are E member and asking if they offer that rate may cause them to offer you a lower rate or an upgrade if they don't participate w/ E.
(Possibly for fear of losing you to an E-participating hotel)
