Is it just me with the new ads?

I've also noticed that on my Ipad, when I open a thread there are no ads. Then as I'm reading the thread, suddenly it jumps and there are the ads after the opening post. Seems it takes a little while to download on the Ipad (unlike my computer) and it really does mess up what I'm reading when it downloads.

I do not have an iPad, thursdaysd. Can you open Safari preferences and see if it is possible to add AdBlock as an Extension? That's what it's called on my MacBook Pro, an Extension. I know there's no such thing in an iPhone...
(If you can add an Extension, then the instructions I and others gave above will work.)

They're annoying, but I'll get used to them. At least they're not those horrible "flash" ads that some websites have. We installed software on our home computer to block those because they were causing the system to crash. Much better now.

kja, the first thing you have to do is add AdBlock as a Safari Extension--I didn't address that in my instructions, I assumed you'd already done that. Drop down the Safari menu, click on Safari Extensions, and then search for and install AdBlock--it's free. You might need to restart Safari and/or the computer after the addition.
Then try what I said above...
Good luck!!

Awesome, NewbE! I had to right-click (rather than use a 2-finger click) .. but once I added AdBlock (per your instructions) and figured out that what I needed was a right-click, you walked me right through it.
I have now joined the rest of you who were happy to tolerate advertising until this really awful new format. ;-)

Well I am bummed. I actually don't mind most ads. I like to support the sites I use by not using adblocker. These ads didn't really bother me until today--the way they are loading now means the thread jumps a few times before it's fully loaded. It's extremely annoying and means I may use adblocker unless they can fix it to load more smoothly.

I admire the impulse, schlegal1, but unless you click on the ads, simply allowing them to appear on your screen is of no benefit to the websites. Unless you mean you want to see them so as to perhaps click on them? Perhaps I misunderstood.
