Is Falmouth a nice part of Cape Cod, or is it ugly? Please help!

Booked a place to stay on the beach in Falmouth. However, everyone on this board seems to only mention Chatham, Hyannis or Yarmouth. What is wrong with the Falmouth region of Cape Cod? Please help!!

I lived in Falmouth many years ago and still visit from time to time. There's nothing wrong with that part of the Cape - somewhat more busy and crowded than other areas (though not as bad as Hyannis) and much to see and do.

There's nothing wrong at all with Falmouth. It's a central cape location and ideal for taking day trips from. It IS a little busy but certainly not ugly. I wish we had stayed there instead of Hyannis, which I think is the busiest/tourist-tacky area.

Other places to visit are Woods Hole (you can also take the ferry to Nantucket and MV from there) and Sandwich, my personal favorite.

Parts of Falmouth are lovely. Falmouth center is fairly picturesque with some charming shops. They've got their share of traffic, etc around the Christmas Tree Shop, Super Stop and Shop, etc...but not nearly as bad as Hyannis.
Drive along the Shore Rd by Nobska light towards Woods Hole for some great ocean views. Keep your reservation and enjoy!

Kayla, you might ask these posters whether they've ever stayed at Seacrest. If you're still intent upon staying there, without checking your other options, then I wish you a good trip, and let me say Welcome to Cape Cod. Perhaps you might post afterward and give us an up-to-date assessment. Ciao

Why do people ask for advice and then not heed it? Kayla, I recall you asking about the Seacrest and getting a very negative review of it. If this is where you are in fact staying, my question is, Why? It sounds awful. You received an awful lot of suggestions for really nice places on your other post. Why not stay somewhere that was recommended? Just curious, thats all. If you have taken the advice given and are staying elsewhere, I apologize.

Kayla-
The Shining Sea bike path from Falmouth to Woods Hole is beautiful. It is 4 mile each way and passes by the beach. Great for walking, biking or rollerblading. Falmouth is a very pretty part of the Cape. Have a great time.

I may be wrong, and if so do apologize, but I believe Kayla already has a reservation at Seacrest, and intends to keep it, and initially was asking only for input on room location. I truly hope Seacrest has been rehabilitated ... my wife was attending a conference at Seacrest and I tagged along ... a huge mistake. WE are not fussy travelers when hotels try. She had to stay, so we were stuck. And it was BAD. All the attendees (probaly 40-50 of them) had similar reactions. Thus I offered a negative review, hoping that if Seacrest were still the same, I might help steer someone to a better option. But perhaps it will be okay, and things have indeed changed for the better. I do hope so. Ciao

O.K., so Seacrest wouldn't be my choice either, however, you will enjoy a magnificent sunset from their beach. Take advantage of your car and explore the side streets off Falmouth Center. By all means do the bike trail to Woods Hole. If you can catch early evening the beach, flora and fauna can't be beat. Welcome to the Cape.

Look, the Cape has fifteen towns and hundreds of villages and neighborhoods. None of them are ugly and all of them have their unique beaches, scenery, events and special attractions.

Falmouth has it's own special assets that include: World Class Falmouth road race; Shining Sea Bike Path; Scenic seaside motels, restaurants and drives as well as beautiful sunsets on Buzzards Bay and easy access to Woods Hole ferries to the islands.

Go there this vacation and enjoynyourself. You can drive to other parts of the Cape at your leisure. If you find other places more suited to your liking then you can stay there in future years.
