Iowa and Minnesota-how are the colors?

Leaving Saturday for three weeks to Iowa and Minnesota. How are the fall colors-started, finished, great? Thanks for the help.

We're still a few weeks away from "the colors" here in the Twin Cities... I imagine Iowa a bit longer than that.

Not much color yet in the TC but the temps are supposed to drop this week to 40s-overnight which should bring on a bit of flame. If you really want to see color, you'll have to go further North.

This time last week the colors were flaming - absolutely FLAMING - around Tofte, along the north shore of Lake Superior. I would expect that if you do Minnesota late in your trip, you'll find things colorful as far south as the Twin Cities.

Last weekend 1/2 way up Michigan the colors had barely started. This year is late, quite the opposite of what was forecast.

Today it the first day that the temps have dropped in Chicago. Iowa is almost identical today as well. I would think that the colors will start right now and be great and at peak in about 10 days to 2 weeks from today, Sept. 29.

There were all kinds of posts this summer about it being past peak in MN on Oct. 9. NOT THIS YEAR. Warm temps all through September have delayed the entire process.

You should really hit it perfect, GJLinda.
