INTINTERESTNG STOPS SEATTLE TO VANCOUVER

We're heading up I5 from Seattle to Vancouver. Any interesting stop offs during the drive there? Parks, shops, something to do at the halfway point/good lunch places?
Thanks for your input!

You can take Chuckanut Drive along the water's edge - slower and more scenic than I-5. At the northern end explore the historic Fairhaven neighborhood of Bellingham (watch for Alaska ferry signs) - a pleasant place to stop over.

Cathy, Not on the scenic side, but there is one huge designer outlet mall between Seattle and Vancouver. I think it's about halfway. You can't miss it as it is within sight of I-5. We've never stopped at it, as we've always been rushing, but it looks very tempting.

HI: I also suggest stopping off in Bellingham. Its a nice quiet town with some interesting shops and lunch spots. But mainly, its just past the halfway point to Vancouver, and the wait at the border can be a severe. By the way, its worse going into Canada than coming back, but I honestly dont know why--we waited 2 hours going into canada and only 20 minutes coming back. Thus, stop in bellingham for snacks and definitely a restroom break. On the drive up, get off in Mount Vernon at the "BOW" exit, folllow the road west to Chuckanut drive, and youll see one of the most awesome and undiscoverd scenic routes in the country. It takes you into bellingham, but about 20 minutes longer, but is definitely worth it. from bellingham, you can get right back on the highway and onto Canada. Have fun, JR

Every time we cross the border going from Bellingham to Vancouver we have found the crossing MUCH slower into the USA than out of. Much. Expect very long waits most days and times on the I5 Peace Arch border.
