internext access, in southern utah national parks

Reposting with more specific title

Leaving on a family vacation this week-end (2 days in Zion Lodge, 2 days Grand Canyon Lodge - North Rim, 2 days Bryce Canyon Lodge, 1 day in Vegas on the way out). Had to book 6 months ago to get in the NP lodges, really looking forward to it (so are wife & kids - 11 & 8)

Unfortunately, I will have to take my laptop with me and try & monitor my work email (I know, I know - but such is life). SO : I need to know the best places (if any) with internet access. I want to be able to connect my own laptop to the internet so I can VPN into work. What is the nearest place I can do this around Zion Lodge ? Around GC-North ? Around Bryce ?

All the info on this site has been a huge help for me, so I am hoping you can give me this additional info as well. Thanks !

Sunil

ashta,

I think I have heard that Ruby's (just outside Bryce Natl. Park) has internet access of some kind. (It's a HUGE Best Western I think).

Check out www.wififreespot.com. It lists a number of free wifi hotspots. In addition to Ruby's Inn, Kanab has a McDonalds with wifi. St. George, Utah, lists a number of possibilities as does Vegas. Las Vegas Advisor also lists wifi access in Vegas.

Good luck with the NR of Grand Canyon! The place is mystical - one of my favorite places - but none of our cell phones have ever worked there, and the newspapers arrive at noon!

We stayed at the lodges in Bryce & Zion this spring. Zion had internet access in the lobby, but not for your computer. Had to wait on line to check email. Both lodges were great, we liked being out of touch. But it might not meet your needs. Didn't stay at Ruby's, but stopped to shop & eat. It is huge and inclusive - almost a little village.

I was just at these places a couple of weeks ago.

Ruby's, just outside of Bryce has computers and internet access. Just inside the main building there's a little area with about half dozen computers. I believe they take your credit card for payment.

I don't know if they have place to connect your own computer.

Thanks for the responses - especially the pointer to Ruby's and the McDonalds in Kanab (I should be able to do that to/from GC-North). Much appreciated folks !!
