Would like to hear about any unique midwest locations for a family reunion of approximately 25 people ranging in ages from 1 - 81. Need to find one large vacation rental home or several smaller homes/cabins/, etc. The location would also and also need to accept two small, nonshedding dogs. Would like a variety of activities nearby including golf, shopping, antiques, water activities. Families reside in IA, IN, & MN...so looking for a location that is within driving distance for everyone. Any insight would be appreciated. [email protected]

I know people who have done this very thing in Galena, IL. Might be a little light on the water activities but has all the rest.

Wisconsin Dells has it all if that appeals to most of the crowd.

Another possibility is Green Lake, WI.

There are some new resorts that are family friendly as well that I have heard nothing but good things about on the Illinois River near Starved Rock.

Galena area also would fit the bill. In Galena you have large house rentals available with their own pools etc. And the rentals and resorts are grouped well for these numbers.

Before I read the replies Galena and Starved Rock came to mind.

Also so did Lk Geneva and possibly Door County.

What about Turkey Run State Park in Indiana? I think they have lodging appropriate for family reunions and it is a lovely area. More rustic of course.

Billie Village (not sure if I have that right) is nearby, tons of covered bridges, I believe there is canoeing in the park.

If you want outdoor activities more than say, just antique and fudge shops, I really would consider the Starved Rock area. It isn't overrun yet, and the topography and surroundings are good because there's really quite different environments all within close proximity.
