Inner Harbor/Fells Point

Where are they from each other? I am trying to book a hotel on priceline and it lists Inner Harbor and Downtown/Waterfront. Which would be closer to Fells Point? Thanks for your help.

inner harbor is about a 10 minute drive from Fells. Fells is very college age type. It;s fun but be ready for some trashy Baltimore kids. inner harbor is more mixed with older and younger crowds. Go to Power Plant Live area which has 3 bars and some restaurants all within walking distance.

Hi Fran

You can even walk from the Inner Harbor to Fell's Point (due east of the harbor)in about 20 minutes, depending on your walking pace...if you do walk it, you can either walk along the water or head up to Little Italy which is right in between the two.

I agree with Me that there is the college-age element at Fell's Point, but certainly you get your share of middle-age and senior suburbanites, yuppies and older residents as well who appreciate the neighborhood for its charming historic rowhouses (where Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass and Paddy Whalen all lived once upon a time). If you're into American history and architecture, I think you will enjoy strolling along Shakespeare St. and adjacent east-west streets, where Admiral Fell lived in the 1700s. As for trashy Baltimore kids? Well it's all in good fun I find; quite the earthy, alterno, peace-and-love set...Divine Trash maybe to quote from a recent movie about John Waters.

Have a great time in Charm City. DAN

Thanks for the info however, I'm still unclear as to which area I should choose: Waterfron/Downtown or Inner harbor, in order to be closer to Fells Point.

Hi Fran,

Is your intended destination Fells Point? There are several hotels in that area-The Admiral Fell Inn for example. I would classify Downtown and Inner Harbor as the same place. Fells Point can be reached from the Inner Harbor by water taxi (approx. 10 minute trip) or by walking. As for waterfront, Fells Point is on the water, but they might be talking about an area called Canton, which is very close to Fells Point. Fells Point has several special interest shops along with bars and clubs. It can get loud and busy at night (esp. on the weekend). The Inner Harbor might be a better location to stay.

Just my opinion! I grew up in and still live in Baltimore.

THanks H,
They have two classifications: Waterfront/Downtown or Inner Harbor. My final desination is Fells Pt as I'ld like to stay near the area I will be at during the nite time hrs. My fear is that if I choose Waterfront/Downtown I'll get Downtown instead of Waterfront. I'ld like Waterfront or Inner Harbor, but they do not separate. Sounds like Inner Harbor is the better choose.

You can walk from the Inner Harbor to Fell's point in about 20 minutes. You can cab in 5 minutes, $6. Hotels in Fell's Point: Admiral Fell Inn, Henderson's Wharf. There is a brand new HUGE Marriott along the waterfront mid way between Fell's Point and the Inner Harbor. There is also a Pier 5 hotel (book through SRS hotels) right next to the Aquarium, on the eastern side of the Inner Harbor (Fell's Point is along the waterfront east of the Inner Harbor). In winter, take a cab from outside Fell's Point. In summer/warmer weather, it's an easy walk from the Inner Harbor to Fell's. You'll have a great time. Other fun places are Canton (go to some of the bars & restaurants on O'Donnell square) (canton is east of Fell's Point along the waterfront) and Little Italy (restaurants, not bars like in Fell's Point and Canton).

If you're on Priceline, and don't know the names of the hotels, I'd choose Inner Harbor. I think the odd of the Admiral Fell Inn or Henderson's Wharf (both are small) being on Priceline are slim.
