Am planning a 25th anniversary trip to Santa Fe in October. Looking for an upscale southwestern-style hotel convenient to the square. What are the thoughts on the Inn at Anaszi or do you have other suggestions?

We stayed at the La Posada last year which is near the square and very upscale. It's a spa so, you can go in for many different kinds of treatments in massage.People walk around the gorgeous grounds in bathrobes and it has a nice pool. I remember asking this question also, last year. Many people recommended the Inn at the Anaszi so ,I'm sure that hotel fits your criteria. I chose the LaPosda because they were running a special and it's was more on my budget.

The Inn of the Anasazi is the best overall choice in Santa Fe. Location can't be beat. It has one of the best restaurants in town. Very helpful and attentive staff with very friendly attitudes. Its southwestern decor looks and feels more authentic than some of the cheesey imitations elsewhere. Rooms are nicely done, not as large as some of the nearby competitors (El Dorado, for one) but definitely nicer. Santa Fe has no true luxury hotels, but the Inn of the Anasazi is the closest you'll find, and provides a very satisfying experience.

we stayed at the Eldorado and enjoyed that very much but ate breakfast at the Inn of the Anasazi a couple times - food is great - good location. I wouldn't hesitate staying there!

I stayed there on a Backroads hiking trip and it was WONDERFUL. It is truly the closest thing Santa Fe has to a luxury hotel. The lobby and restaurant are beautiful -- a sort of modern, Southwestern, Ralph Lauren kind of decor. The rooms are also very nice and many have fireplaces. They carry the soaps/lotions from the nearby 10,000 Waves spa (which you should definitely visit while you're there!). The restaurant, as others have noted, is fabulous. Not your traditional southwestern -- lots of game and interesting dishes. The bar is also nice. Overall, a great experience and well located.

Again -- be sure to go to 10,000 Waves. It's a short cab ride from the Inn of the Anasazi. It's a Japanese-style spa and they have outdoor hot tubs and cold plunges for rent, along with more traditional spa services like massages, wraps, facials. Just be careful that you are clothed when you go into the sauna to warm up before a treatment. They neglected to tell me it wasn't single-sex. OOOPS!
