Attending a wedding in Larkspur and the only thing available nearby that weekend is "San Rafael Inn", a motel. Anyone who knows this place? Just need something clean and safe.
Only other option is a Quality Inn in Point Richmond, but we've heard that Richmond should be avoided?

Point Richmond is nice, but you have to be careful driving down streets through Richmond to get there.

My son lived in Point Richmond for a few years and his friend got bullet holes in his back window driving down the wrong streets.

I don't know San Rafael but have never heard anything bad about it.

San Rafael is an ok place.It is safe. I always think of it as a freeway town.We bought our sailboat there, so most of out time has been near the water. Location will make it easy on for you to get to Larkspur. Try Art's on the Pier for lunch or a drink. There is a good brewery on the downtown side of the freeway also.I am pretty sure the hotel you mention is a somewhat non-descript place (tidy though) along the freeway. I would choose SR over PR although that area of PR has been recently developed.Best wishes.

Definitely choose SR over PR. San Rafael is a great city with good restaurants and a nice downtown. It's also only a few minutes from Larkspur.

Don't know anything about San Rafael Inn; it's centrally located, but it isn't in a great location. Are you absolutely certain there isn't anything else available? If you tell me what weekend you're going, I may be able to give you some other suggestions.

Have you tried the Marriot at Larkspur Landing or Embassey Suites in San Rafael near the Civic Center?

Or the Gerstle Park Inn?

Just drove by what I thought was the hotel you mentioned..nope..that was the Days Inn by the freeway. Have you considered Corte Madera. CM is REALLY close to Larkspur.

Or try Mill Valley or Sausalito. There are so many motels along "101" in all of Marin.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in San Rafael and it was really nice. I highly recommend it.
