Inexpensive Spa weekend trip

Hello Everyone,

I was reading some posts on spa's in the US and thought maybe i could get some help. I'm looking for a 4 or 5 day trip to a spa with a friend. I'm coming from New York and was interested in possibly Colorado, Texas, Arizona but am up for other suggestions. Is it possible to do a trip for $1000 not including airfare? I look forward to your thoughts.....

Thanks,
Jen

probably not as fun as the faraway places you mentioned.... but Berkeley Springs, West Virginia is a GREAT spa town. you could fly to BWI or Dulles and take the nice drive. you'll find that you can stay at a luxorious B&B and get all the top of the line spa services and at a lower cost. if you're interested in mostly spa activities and nice dinners, and not doing site-seeing, this could be a great option for you, and the airfare would be much cheaper.
have fun.

Thank you for post. The only reason airfare wasn't an issue is because i have a ticket from a previous cancelled trip that i can use so i wasn't factoring that into the cost. I would like to stay at a spa resort type place that i can take hikes and do yoga while still having spa treatments. Any other places come to mind?

check www.travelzoo.com and click on their "resorts & spas" option. There are often good deals there. Also, www.luxurylink.com has some nice spa packages.

Have no idea of price but there are good spas in and just outside Santa Fe. spafinder.com is another site to check. Also do a text search here.

Your best deals may be in New Mexico. I found when I was checking for spas, the ones out there seemed the cheapest.

Phoenix's Marriott Camelback Inn (camelbackinn.com) has great summer specials. For $339/nt you get a deluxe casita room and one one hour spa treatment per person, and a $25 dining credit at the hotel. It is a little more expensive than you're looking to spend but I thought if perhaps you can save some on airfare and smaller things this would be a great place to stay. There's also a large pool on property and the resort is at the bottom of a mountain (great views).

I haven't been to this spa, but it always gets great reviews- Lake Austin Spa. I am pretty sure that you get get 4-5 days for about $1000 and there is hiking, canoeing, kayaking, etc. The Texas Hill Country is very pretty. You don't mention what time of year though. In Texas it will be too hot for hiking and other activities until at least early October. Our nicest weather is between Oct. and March.

A STRONG second for Berkeley Springs, WV.

http://www.berkeleysprings.com

I had the best spa treatment there (at The Bath House Massage and Health Center), better than the Greenbriar and less expensive to boot.

The Bath House is well known as the best one in town.

I would also suggest the spa at Berkeley Springs State Park: not luxurious but a top-notch massage and absurdly cheap.

The town also has great restaurants and shops.

Fly into DULLES (IAD) - not BWI or DCA. You'll save a LOT of driving time that way. The drive from Dulles Airport is about 90 minutes.

Would you consider going to Canada? We went to a great spa at Mt. Tremblant (about two hours north of Montreal) and got a ridiculous deal including meals for well under $1000. Try to go before peak season (Ski) to get it. The services were great and plentiful!
