Dumbo and walk down the Brooklyn Bridge Park also Coney Island is always good fun, lots of see and do at Coney although the food choice is a little bit rubbish.

I could spend all day at Dumbo though. Lovely cobbled streets finish off a beautiful setting. Head down Washington St to see the icon bridge with the empire state in the distance behind it. Lovely.

Take your teens to Coney Island. And Brooklyn offers many shopping spots far cheaper than Manhattan.

"with the 11% bonus that is given for amounts over $5.50"

huh? that would be $10 or $20 instead.
get 4 different cards, NOT single.

POMAH,

What do they need to get 4 different cards for??????

Single ride cards cost $3.00 each (the single ride card is on,ly valid for 2 hours from time of purchase). For 4 people that equals $12.00

If they get 1 MetroCard which will cover the 4 of them they can put multiple rides on it. If they were to buy 4 MetroCards it would cost them $1.00 for each card.

$5.50 with 11% bonus equals $6.11 (2 fares with 61 cents left over). (Keep in mind that a new card would add $1.00 to the cost or $6.50 in total)

$10.00 with the bonus gets $11.10 (4 fares with 10 cents left over). Even with the $1.00 fee the cost would only come to $11.00 total. That is less than getting 4 cards with separate fares.

$20.00 with the bonus gets $22.20 (8 fares with 20 cents left over). With the $1.00 fee the cost would only come to $21.00 - which is less than 4 cards with separate fares.

Note - when using the MetroCard Vending Machine (and going for a regular MetroCard with Multiple fares) for the 1st time when the screen asks how much you want (after selecting "Add Value"), select "Other Amounts" and then put in $10.00 or $20.00 (as you desire). That way you'll get the bonus properly added. The machine will add the $1.00 fee at the end.

Due to a "human glitch" in the programming when buying a new card the machine will suggest amounts while taking into consideration the $1.00 fee. The bonus offered would get you less than you would need. That is why I mention above to use the "Other Amounts" selection so you will get the proper bonus.

Example (for new card):

If you select get a new card the machine will suggest amounts such as $9.00 (plus bonus gets $9.99) far short of the $11.00
needed for 4 full fares.

When refilling an existing card the machine will show refill amounts of $10.00, $20.00 and others.

What the heck is that gibberish?!
Really, just when asked for an amount just press either $10 or $20 or Unlimited.
I suggest $20 if using bus and subway alot.
Yes, do get every adult their own card!
