All roads will not be closed. Taxi may take the Triborough Bridge but you will be able to get there. Bulk of the racers will have finished but they will keep a lane or two shut on the 59th Street Bridge to accommodate less fast racers.

Not all roads will be closed but traffic will still be partly diverted and you can expect it to take longer than usual. Call a car service (we use Dial 7) and ask them, they will tell you how much longer to allow.
Is this an international or domestic flight and what time is it?

It may depend on where you are on the east side. Traffic may be horrible in Manhattan. If at all possible consider taking the subway or LIRR to Jamaica and then the air train to JFK.
I had to drive from Queens to Lincoln Center last year on Marathon Sunday. Even taking the Triboro bridge *now the RFK bridge..it took over an hour to get to Lincoln Center once we were in Manhattan .. there were a lot of street closures and it was after 4pm

The explosion occurred on W23rd St between 6th & 7th Avs.
Lot of property damage but no fatalities. 29 people were injured. 24 people went to local hospitals (1 serious) but all were released by Sunday morning. 5 people refused medical treatment.
At this time traffic is that area is being detoured. It should not affect the UES.
