Are you talking about Imperial Palace in Vegas? If so, we've stayed there twice. Once was our first time ever to Vegas 11 years ago, and then again for New Years in 1997-1998. The rooms are okay (nothing fancy) and the location of the hotel is prime. This is one of the older properties on the strip and it shows. The casino gets really smokey and it's kind of dated. Your paying about $72 per night which seems a little high, but it depends on your exact dates and days of the week. As you probably already know, Sun-Thur is always considerably cheaper than Fri & Sat night stays. Did you find any other hotel deals?

Thank you for the response.
Yes It is in Vegas. The Flamingo is more expensive and they only had a room with one king bed and we need 2 beds.. I would have preferred to stay there. We are there for Wed.,Thurs, and Friday night. Friday night is the expensive one. We will probably just use it to sleep and spend waking hours checking out other lobbies.

The Imperial Palace did have location, but I wouldn't stay there. Check travelocity, expedia and orbitz first for rates at other hotels in the area. Many times people pay close to the same price at the Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Stratosphere or Circus Circus, as they would have staying at a nicer place such as the Luxor (running a $59/nt. special on their website now), Ny,Ny, or Excalibur. Good luck!
The Imperial Palace does have an impressive auto collection though. The last time I was there they had cars once belonging to Elvis, Maryln Monroe, Ferdinand Marcos, Liberace, and the Pope.

Once when I was in Vegas there was a shooting in a stairwell at IP. Yeah, I know that can happen anywhere, but still....
I haven't personally stayed there, but my parents have stayed numerous times at Casino Royale and they say it's perfectly fine. They say the rooms are clean and well-kept (like a Hampton Inn) and the staff is very friendly. Good comps, too, and the location is pretty fantastic. Their rooms are frequently very cheap, so you might want to see what their rates look like for when you're going.

Colleen,
My wife and I were in Vegas in May. We did not stay in IP, but we passed by it one night (around 9:00 pm). There was a very loud (I mean VERY LOUD) concert going on right at the main entrance. We did not want to be anywhere close to that place because of the music and the kind of people 'chilling' out there. So I would recommend picking another hotel unless you feel you belong to that kind of audience.

Colleen,
It's definitely NOT worth $218 for 3 nights. You can probably search other hotel's websites and find a better deal. Paris, for example, has $69 per night offers often, depending on when you go. Consider joining hotel 'slots clubs' online and you'll automatically be sent bargain deals. My husband and I had the misfortune of staying at IP 1 1/2 years ago while guests at a company board retreat. Ugh. We seriously thought of sneaking off to Caesar's or somewhere else close by but knew we'd get caught! The first room the hotel assigned us to was by Harrah's party pit (that another person referred to). We lasted 10 minutes before the loud music and VERY bright lights drove us back to the front desk. We 'upgraded' to a Luv Tub room--what a HOOT!!! It was totally Old Vegas with mirrors on the ceiling and the biggest tub known to man sitting in the corner of the room. Seriously, a dozen people could fit comfortably in that tub. The hotel itself is depressing, though, and the slots/blackjack pretty tight. Never again but a free room was a free room...

I've stayed at the Imp twice this year and I am going to again in August. It's got a great location and the rooms are $ 55 a night with a free breakfast during the week. Go to their website www.imperialpalace.com and find the "Casino Gold" special. The rooms are higher during the weekend. I have heard from others that the rooms near the Harrah's party pit outside can get loud but I think you could get that fixed easily. Guess I'm the only Pro-Imp person posting here but I only go to Vegas to game and I am not "low class". Have fun, no matter where you stay !

That seems high for IP. I have stayed there for much, much less. If you don't care at all about your room or dining options AND can get a really cheap rate the IP is not bad because its location is prime. But at that rate I wouldn't even consider it.
Try Harrahs - its just across the street (still prime location) and I am guessing you could get a similar rate there. And its much much nicer.

Hello,
I was in Vegas in July 2000 and we staye at the Imperial Palace.. it was our first time.. and for the price.. you cannot ask for a better location.. almost in the middle of the strip.
The rooms are clean (nothing to complaint about), very good breakfast buffet and a great pool.
I recommand it if you are looking for an Hotel with a great location on the strip.
enjoy !

I agree that the price you've quoted seems high for IP. The only thing it has going for it is location. Other than thatit is pretty much a dump. I stayed there on my first trip to Vegas over ten years ago and thought it was okay. But just recently I stopped in the IP casino while staying at another hotel and it really is run down - there was an unrecognizable odor and the air conditioning was virtually non-existent toward the back of the casino. Gloomy feel. Although September is a busy time, I really think you can get a better or equal rate at another hotel if you try.

I've stayed at IP in Las Vegas 3 times in the past 6 years. I wouldn't recommends it. Table limits are low, but the elevators are terrible. You end up waiting 15 and 20 minues during check out. Try Statosphere instead. Location isn't as good, but the casino is much nicer.

I would advise against the Imp. The rates you were quoted seem awfully high. Having said that, if no other reasonable options are now available, book it but only provided you can cancel w/o a fee. Then keep checking rates at other hotels. My hunch is that you will find something at Flamingo, Bally's, Monte Carlo or possibly Paris or Aladdin for a comparable rate. These are far superior hotels to IP and offer roughly the same strip-location attractiveness. Another strategy might be to book separately your stay. That is, the weekday nights at weekday rates, and then the Saturday separately. Another option, (if sleep is the main reason you want a room) and cost is a highly weighted factor, while your time and convenience are lowly rated factors, then you might consider changing hotels. This strategy gives you a two-night stay at a good quality hotel and one night elsewhere (just to sleep) versus three nights at a lesser quality hotel.
In sum, pack lightly, be curious and tolerant and check all sour attitudes upon arrival then, irregardless of where you stay, your LV experience can be what you make it to be. Have a great time!
