Take them to Seattle. Just got back from this fantastic city. Not only is it on of the most beautiful cities in the US but it is ideal for a family vacation. The kids will love the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Underground Tour and Seattle Aquarium. Also if they like music take them to the Experience Music Project. Great seafood at Ivars and Chinese Food at International District.

If you've got 4 or 5 days, I suggest London. Fly overnight, 3 or 4 days to sightsee, 1 day to travel home. If they've never been out of the US, I'd take them abroad.

At the risk of being flamed, I'll suggest Las Vegas. My mothering style is fairly conservative but we took our two teens to Vegas last summer and had so much fun that we're doing it again this August. We stay in a hotel with a suite, eat at great restaurants (no buffets or $4.95 specials) and wander around the strip seeing the sights. My daughter loves the shopping, while my husband and son hang out at ESPN Zone or the like.

Bellagio has fine art exhibits that change on a regular basis, plus you could take in Mama Mia or Phantom, if your daughters haven't already seen these shows. In addition, maybe you'll be lucky enough to be there when entertainers like Jerry Seinfeld or Brad Garret are in town. Last summer we saw Penn and Teller--this year we're planning on getting tickets to Rita Rudner since we've already seen Blue Man, Mama Mia and Phantom other places.

Early December is a prime time for Vegas, even though it won't be swim weather. Hotel rates are usually way fairly low this time of year.

hadn't thought about adding Niagra Falls to the Toronto equation - that would make it even more interesting.
They've been to Germany so a quick weekend in London just sounds tiring. Philadelphia can be put on the list. Seattle is just too far for a weekend when you're flying out of small airports in the East.
Hadn't really considered Minneapolis...you think there's enough to keep the teens entertained? Las Vegas is just not appealing to me at all but I guess if we thought about a drive up to see Grand
Canyon....
