Ideas for a fall/winter Honeymoon?
My fiance and I are getting married at the end of Oct. We're either going to go on our Honeymoon right after that (1st of Nov.) or wait till January, depending on his work schedule.
Anyone have any good ideas on where we could go?
About us: we live in Los Angeles and would like to go outside of CA. Hawaii is out. We don't mind going somewhere with a cooler climate. We were thinking Sedona, New England or the South like Charleston or Savannah. Somewhere romantic but not too touristy. My fiance gets really bored easily so lying around on a beach somewhere would not be the best type of vacation for us.
Thanks for any advice you could give!

Early November can be dreary here in New England. We usually get some heavy rain around Halloween. The leaves will be gone although it can be a good time for quiet weekends. There's a lot to see and do no matter what the weather is like. My husband chooses things like classic car museums. I think I would opt for Charleston although I've only been there in October. The weather was wonderful. The carriage rides were fun. We have a very luxurious lunch at Summerfields (can't remember if that is the name of the town or the former tea plantation) and then drove south making a loop and coming back via Beaufort. Lovely little town on the water.

When I saw "fall," my first thought was New England -- but November is a bit late for fall colors. Charleston, however, is indeed a wonderful place for a honeymoon, and (unless there's a late hurricane) the weather should be ideal. You can sit on a balcony and sip lemonade all day OR visit a myriad of historic homes, sites, museums, and churches. When we went to Hank's Restaurant, we off-handedly mentioned it was our 22nd anniversary -- and the chef spelled that out in chocolate sauce on our cheesecake!

New Orleans is my suggestion. The tourist areas, such as the French Quarter, are back to normal. There are MANY things to do there, and lots of very romantic hotels. We went in December 2004 and the weather was a little cool, but we just wore a light jacket and we were fine.

Charleston is gorgeous that time of year. Since the ocean water temp never drops below 60 degrees, it keeps our winter balmy with short cold snaps.
The begining of November would be a gorgeous time of year.
I did an extensive trip report (my husband and I live about an hour outside Charleston and spend the night there often) with lots of hotel information.
For a honeymoon either Wentworth Mansion or the Market Pavillion would be my first two choices followed by Charleson Place, Planters Inn, and Harborview Inn.

How about New York City? No chance of being bored there. We got married from the Essex House Hotel on Central Park South and it was great. Stayed for just a couple of nights, but we had a great time.
I think New York is a very romantic city. Nowadays, we always stay with family, and I miss of the romance of staying in a hotel there. The restaurants, cafes, museums and sights would make a great honeymoon.
Another option: Washington DC. It is such a beautiful city, and we think of it as very romantic.

Congrat's on your upcoming wedding!
I think that Sedona would be just a beautiful place for a honeymoon!
Fly into Phoenix and rent a car up to Sedona about 2 hours away and I would do eithere a budget room for around $150 or less and would be the Best Western Inn & Suites by the Airport..ask for the new rooms...on the third floor..Super bang for the buck plus they have a shuttle to downtown for just a tip!
Luxurious would be Enchantment Resort..
Stunning and very romantic and very chic..Yavapai is stunning for lunch and this is the romance of Sedona..
Weather will be warm of 80 or less degrees and perfect..
Go to Jerome which is about and hour a way and please go the the Grand Hotel and eat at the Asylum Restaurant which is outstanding.. great artist town on an old mining town.. Hiking is probably the most stunning place to enjoy the Red Rock..it is breathtaking.
The vortexes of Sedona are quite powerful and a happy energy..
When you are in Phoenix, try the Phoenican,Royal Palms or the Biltmore and the Wyndam at the Buttes for great deals on Expedia.com
I wish you all the best!
