I love New Yorkers
Just returned from New York City and I want to thank all the friendly New Yorkers who made our trip so memorable. The directions, information and casual conversations are fondly remembered by these two mid-westerners. It's obvious you love your city, and so do I. Can't wait to go back.

Hi jdbird..
We just got back from NYC late Friday night and spent 3 wonderful days in the Midtown area for business and I couldn't agree with you more on how lovely they are!
I was so impressed that I e-mailed Mayor Bloomberg and he e-mailed me back thanking me for taking the time to write and he loves to hear stories about the good things that New Yorkers do for us tourist..

Ditto! I don't know where New Yorkers get their rep for being unfriendly and/or rude. I have also been to Ireland (who have an undeserved rep for friendlyness)several times and I would rather deal with New Yorkers any time! Come to think of it, the English are more friendly than the Irish, but I digress.

kirbyks,
After my first visit to Ireland in 1996, I've returned 8 times and one big reason was the friendliness of the people. I can't speak for New York as the last time I was there was 1956 and they were friendly enough.
Regard, Joan

We like tourists too. It reminds us we should be getting out more and doing stuff, rather than getting lazy at home on the weekends.
One memory I have is seeing Bloomberg on the subway as I was going downtown for a business meeting, and he was talking to the 5 year old girl of a visiting family as he went to his meeting. Very charming all around. I am not sure the girl knew who she was talking too.

Living in the area for around 20 years, NY has always had friendly folks.
I have seen a whole block comes to a stop because some lady lost a contact lens with people dropping to their knees to help her.
Eight million people living together, gotta' be the friendliest place on earth.

Ah, NYC. Just returned from my 5th trip. Each one gets better than the last. The people are awesome. They help you with the subway, directions and dining suggestions for starters. Then the bartenders and cab drivers want to hear about what you've seen and done and what you have left to see and do. They are interested and so friendly. Thanks for making me welcome in your wonderful city. Can't wait to go back again.
