THE GREEN FLASH!!!

It was soooo cool--and I'm super excited!!! It was at Hanalei Bay, and DP saw it, too!

congratulatons!! I know just how you feel--until I saw it several years ago in south Kona, I thought it was just an island (as opposed to urban) legend.

We've seen it more frequently from some elevated position -- seldom from a beach.

kanunu -- Um...you watched the sun set over the water at Turtle Bay? Maybe it doesn't have to be over water? Enlighten me!

It's usually seen over water--but it doesn't have to be.

So happy for you! I love your trip reports and if anyone "deserves" to see this then it is you!

I finished your sentence before opened the post! Congrats! Hopefully I'll be as luck when I make it back to Hawaii.

ChiSue, I finally got back here.
How about "We saw the sun APPEAR to set INTO the water at Turtle Bay"?
Anyway, we were close to the hotel at ground level, and the instant the sun dipped below the horizon, we saw it. It was green (I would call it emerald green, but what does a guy know about colors, anyway?), and it was a flash. Is there another kind???
When we go to Hawaii, we go in March, the sun definitely sets over/into the ocean at TBR, then.
Your turn to enlighten me!
