Tx--The pilot is who told her the reason for the delay. She is so excited to see this again...we were reminiscing about the eruption 25 years ago and remember the ash at our house and how strange it was. All of a sudden it doesn't seem like that long ago.

My dughter just called me from her rental car -- her flight landed in Portland just fine within an hour after the mini-event. The PDX web site also reports "The present eruption activity at Mt. St. Helens is not affecting airport operations. There are no reported airline delays."

Ranger, We saw it smoking as shown on TV.
Hopefully it was only agitated by all the weather upheavals.

Mother Nature of the West Coast was green with envy over the attention paid to hurricanes spawned by Mother Nature of the East Coast, and did the best she could this week to shake things up, with an earthquake in California and Mt. St. Helen's burp. Let's hope she's satisfied!

I remember Mt. St. Helen's blowing in 1980--it was my high school graduation weekend and the sky was gray and hazy all weekend from the ash--in western Nebraska!

Hope everyone nearby the mountain is fine.

Well Scarlett..what is it with you...you start a hurricaine in Fl, then get St Helen all huffy! did you also do a stopover in California?

Please wait till hurricaine season is over if you plan to come to Hawaii this year!!

Watching our news here right now and the level has been increased to level 3 and they are evacuating the visitors center at Johnston Ridge.

mms, I saw that they closed Portland Airport for a while! I guess we were lucky to get away when we did, although I kind of like the idea of being stuck in Portland at the 5th Ave Suites just a little longer.

Well, volcanos are unpredictable, but I have not heard of a prediction of St. Helens errupting like it did in 1980. I am both excited yet worried, being in Portland, the closest big city to the mountain. If I see/hear anything myself I'll post about it.
