Hyatt Regency Coral Gables

Got this hotel on Priceline for a post cruise stay. Can anyone tell me how far it is from the Port of Miami to the hotel? Also is there public transportation available or will we need a rental car to go to Miami/South Beach? If anyone has stayed at this hotel please let me know how you liked it. I also posted this on the cruise forum but thought I might get more feedback here. Thank you.

Coral Gables is one of the nicest and most historic areas in Miami. Unfortunately, your only means of transportation to South Beach would be a cab ($30+). If you are hung up on South Beach than go for it. Otherwise, CG has some nice things you can see. Like the Biltmore Hotel, Venetian Pool, your hotel is walking distance to very nice shops (Miracle Mile) and the finest dining. Your hotel is also very nice.

Coral Gables is a fabulous area and consider yourself lucky to get this hotel!

Rent a car and visit Vizcaya, Key Biscayne, Bill Baggs State Park, and explore Coral Gables and the Miracle Mile on foot.

Skip South Beach, you'll have a splendid time!

This is a very nice hotel in a very nice area. We stayed regularly through priceline when our daughter was a University of Miami student. How long are you staying? You might want a car to get around and explore if for more than a night or two, otherwise there are restaurants and shops to walk to in Coral Gables.

The hotel has a nice pool area, and the rooms are typical for a Hyatt. We often received fabulous rooms even though staying at priceline prices as low as $45 per night. You are especially lucky to have gotten this hotel instead of some of the dogs in Coconut Grove, which was combined with Coral Gables on priceline the last time I looked.

mary1007,GoTravel and marilynl - Thank you all so much for taking time to reply. We appreciate all of your suggestions and look forward to exploring the area, doing some shopping and visiting the restaurants.
Does anyone have any idea of the best way to get from the port to the hotel?
Thank you again.
