Hyatt Kauai Question

I want to find out about the pool and lagoon from someone who has stayed here before.

1. As I understand it, you can kayak down the lagoon, but can you swim or float on a raft in the lagoon?

2. Is the lagoon separate from the pool?

3. Is the lagoon freshwater or saltwater?

4. If the pool is separate from the lagoon, please tell me how big is it and if there are waterfalls and is there a swim-up bar?

5. How close is the pool to the beach? Can you see and hear the ocean if sitting by the pool?

Thanks so much!

1. You can rent a kayak for the lagoon, and also rent rafts/floats and swim in it. It's like a fake beach, very nice.
2. The lagoon is separate from the pool.
3. Lagoon is saltwater.
4. The lagoon is like a big pool. There's no waterfall or swim-up bar in the lagoon. The pool is great. Very big, has a big water slide and a smaller water slide, and meaanders around, with bridges you can swim under. It's a great pool.
5. The lagoon is between the pool and the ocean. You can certainly see the ocean, and probably hear it as well but I can't remember paying attention to that. The lagoon and pool are right next to each other, so you can sit by either and use the other one. We generally sat by the lagoon because the lounge chairs there were great, each with their own private cover that you could pull up. It's a very short walk to the beach from either, it's just on the other side of the lagoon.

Yes, you can swim in the saltwater lagoon. It was very warm. Wonderful place to float around in the sun! One end has a sandy beach area. The lagoon is seperate from the pool. The pool is huge and meanders all over the center garden area. There are water slides, waterfalls, little waterways and caves, I don't think there is a swim up bar. The pool is quite a way from the beach, but the lagoon is very close to the beach. There is an adults only part of the pool too. It is a gorgeous area and the best part of this hotel. There is lots of space and many areas to hang out and enjoy and relax.

The lagoon is actually half freshwater/half saltwater, but it tastes like it is saltwater. The Hyatt is worth the extra money just because of the pool and lagoon alone.

There is no swim up bar but there is great poolside service. There are little flags yuo can raise for service right on your lounge chair. They serve drinks in plastic cups that you can take with you as you travel through the various levels of pools and slides. Be careful to hold your drink aloft so as not to spill a drop!!! My sis and her husband said that was really a fun part of being at the Hyatt.

We were pleasently surprised at the Hyatt Kauai pool and it now sets the standard for pools in all our travels! The pool itself is built down a slight slope and they have taken advantage of this is the design. It seemed as though there was never anyone else in the pool as each meanering section curves and winds down this hill giving great privacy. There is also a very slight current that allows you to float along without a lot of effort at a leisurely pace which was great for my kids. There are so many little out of the way places in and around the pool and lagoon area that also allow for privacy, like huge hammocks, wooden freestanding swings, tables and grassy areas. One note, my kids (1 & 3 at the time) didn't care for the fake sand in the lagoon area as it is rough, not fine like at most natural beaches. I found it hard to go bare foot on and it slightly spoiled the ambience(not by much though) Since then, they have played at a few different pool areas that use this type of fake sand including Maui Marriot and the Maui Hyatt and have become accustomed to it. I really can say nothing bad about that pool though, it is just phenomenal.
