How was your weekend? Monday, August 28

Hello, guys, first of all a warning - next Monday is the Labor Day, I'll be off work, so most likely won't be posting this thread, unless you want to wait till Tuesday.

Maybe somebody want to start this thread on Monday? I'll do a search before posting on Tuesday.

We went to dinner at Equinox, the only (they claim!) revolving restaurant in San Francisco. Fantastic views, very good but awfully overpriced food, bad service.

Details will follow in another post, I'll come up with a full review.

Fabulous weekend - spent Friday at the Borgata in Atlantic City. Had a great dinner at "Specchia", good as any 5 star in NY.

Highly recommended.

We did another hike in the Rocky Mountain Front area of Montana. We didn't check a map, took a wrong trail, and our 6 mile hike turned into 9 miles plus. It was beautiful but a little too long and boring for the toddler.

Saturday night we attended a bbq for incoming freshman and their parents at the University where my husband coaches. There were a lot of nervous but excited kids and some sad but excited parents.

And yesterday, we had dinner from the our garden: fresh corn on the cob, fresh tomatoes topped with basil, sage, and thyme, and an apple pie made with apples from my in-laws orchard.

It was a nice summer weekend, but I'm looking forward to fall.

Friday night: Anyone out there remember O'Neils downtown Akron Oh? Well, I was impressed, the main floor is a downtown bar/restaurant and it was hoping! food was good and you can eat inside or outside. We then went across the street to the fairly new Arrows statium (AA baseball team) and watched Akron win. As we walked back to the old O'Neils, which has free deck parking after 6:00pm, There was a free concert going on at Lock 2. We watched from the parking deck for awhile, it is a clean, well taken care of area. I'm telling you, Akron's coming back!

Saturday: Went looking for a boat and a truck to pull it. Fun!

Getting ready to head to the Outer Banks for Labor Day weekend!

It rained, it rained, and it rained some more. And oh yeah, a tornado touched down not to far from me on Friday. That said, we persevered. We were actually able to go to an outdoor concert Friday nite, the rain held off. Decent show, - Alex Ray Joel (Yup Billy's little girl) opened for Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers. Saturday dinner at a friends home, and Sunday, we stayed home. It was pouring, why go out!

It was a fantastic weekend of hot air ballooning at the NASA facility in Houston.

Friday night had a beautiful balloon glow and watching the balloons on Sunday morning just couldn't be beat.

Sadly, the weather on Saturday caused me to change my plans so that no balloons were involved. We went on a ghost hunt in Galveston, TX instead!

Hi Faina ~

Great weekend that started with a Viking's pre-season game.

Movie on Saturday - Invincible (which we loved)

Yummy brunch on Sunday.

Sad for those that lost their lives in the plane crash.

Grateful that Ernesto was downgraded to a tropical storm again.

The US Open starts today. Yes, yes, and lemme just say one more YES!

DH was out of town all weekend.
Friday night went to a fish fry with my mom and BIL's brother. He lives in FL and cannot get a decent fish fry. Here you could probably get 300 decent fish frys on any given Friday night.
Sat - dyed my hair (I'm permaturly grey, really), got whistled at (well it was from behind and after the dye job still flattering)
Got sick of my alone time by 3PM on Saturday, too bad DH didn't get back till Sunday PM
Went to my sister's company picnic as her helper - her DH was up north too. Very fun, beautiful weather. She was so grateful for the help she gave me a very nice prize. I did this last year too. Her take is I am MUCH more helpful than her DH and I don't complain. A little sunburned, but pleasantly tired.

I posted this late last night on Freaky Fri., but probably should have just waited for Faina to start this one!

We had a great week in Perdido Beach - ate lots of seafood and Outlet shopped 'til I dropped! Dh had a meeting there, so we had lots of friends/associates to enjoy it with.

Finished the week in Fairhope at my sis's and we helped her refinish her garage floor...she's a happy camper now! I do think it turned out nice.

Enjoyed the crabbed topped flounder with bernaisse sauce (YUM!)at Wintzells on Fri. before heading back home Sat. AM.
in time to get ready for an engagement party in a swanky area of town...lots of good food and good company!

So, LoriNY, how WAS Billy Joel's "little girl"? Man, does that make me feel old or what?!!!!

SO and I drove down to Sacramento to the California State Fair. We have been going for many years now and in the last 5 or 6 years it's just been deteriorating. It just wasn't good. glad we cut it a day short this year..went down on Friday instead of Thursday. We stopped at the big flea market in Roseville on the way home Sunday. That's always fun and then bought some fabulous peaches at the produce market before heading for home. I think next year we'll make it one day at the fair and then do other stuff. Lots to do down there, and maybe we could settle on a meeting place and I could "do lunch" with LoveItaly!!!! How about it LI? That is if you aren't FINALLY off to Italy..gee, it's about time for you isn't it? Anyway, inspite of the fair not being so great, it WAS great just to get out of town for a couple of days. I work at home, so being away from the phone for a couple of days always works for me!!!!!

Made my annual trek to my brother's house in the Hamptons. It rained alot but still got a bit of golf and shopping in - a few of the stores in East Hampton had sales so got some stuff for my girls. Had a nice dinner at a restaurant at a marina - Hampton Point maybe - but it was very good with a pretty view. But I have to say that this Boston girl sure does not get the Hamptons - too many New Yorkers beeping at me - must have been my Red Sox license plate. I'll take Newburyport any day.

My weekend consisted of 3 days of partying like a rock star. Boy, am I glad I'm not a rock star--I wouldn't be able to keep up.

Thursday we got our marriage license and helped my girlfriend with some last minute wedding details. Thursday night was the rehearsal and then the rehearsal party, which was followed by a bonfire. Home around 12am.

Friday was the day of the wedding. The bride and all of us bridesmaids got up early and went to the salon to spend the day getting our hair done. What fun! Then it was off to get ready for the wedding. Gorgeous weather, gorgeous bride, great friends and new aquaintances, great food, beer flowing, what more could you ask for? We had a great time and partied until 3am!!

Saturday morning was brunch at the bride's sister's. Let's just say a lot of us were VERY tired and VERY ready to eat. While I attended that my fiance stayed home to help my friends who were replacing windows at our house....Then took a 20 minute nap and headed to a surprise birthday party for another friend. After a few drinks I was getting my third wind and could have stayed out all night. But, alas, fiance wasn't on the same page so we were home by 12:30am.

Sunday consisted of sleeping until 10, laying on the couch and falling asleep again until 1:30. Going to the grocery store for some soup and dinner fixins', then took a quick shower, watched some tv and took another nap. Had a nice dinner of roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli, and then in bed by 10....It rained all day so it was perfect!

I can't hang with the big dogs like I used too. Actually, I can hang with them it just takes me longer to recover

One wedding down--two to go. Most important being mine next.

A weekend off of sorts. Saturday I was in an all day continuing ed class...dry,dry,dry! Saturday evening dinner with old friends one of whom is quite ill. The grace of this man in the face of ALS is inspiring.

Sunday: finally a day off. We read the requisite NY Times nupitials and obits then headed out for breakfast. We picked up some herbs at the nursery and headed home for some much needed gardening. The first feel of Fall in the air is delightful. The summer die back in the garden heralds Autumn as well.

I made a delicious chicken caccitorre with fresh pasta last night for dinner.

We both loved the little time we had together and felt replenished(for the most part) to go "back at it" today.

Weekend was good...

I went walking around High park on Saturday, ate a so-so breakfast in Kensington Market, had some sushi pizza, and had a nice dinner with friends......

On sunday, I flew back home and had horrible ear pressure on the plane, was sick when I got home, and though I felt I was hungry, decided against eating.

So far, it was a nice weekend, but a bit tiring.
