How to get FF miles applied retroactively
Hi--
I am hoping some of you savvy travelers have some suggestions for me. Here's the deal: in June I flew on United cross country, unaware that United miles would apply to my Delta Skymiles. I no longer have the boarding pass or tickets (it was 1 month ago) and supposedly that is what Delta wants to verify. I called United and they said Delta would have to take care of it, and of course, Delta said that United would have to verify that I flew. @#@$^&^!!??"
I purchased my tix on Hotwire and can download my itinerary which has all the flight info on it. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get the miles verified and applied to my Delta account? It would mean seem hefty mileage put into my Skymiles acct, otherwise I wouldn't bother.

I wouldn't just give up.
On the Delta web site, there should be a place to request miles for previous travel. I have done it on United and American. They will have an address or can give you one if there is just a phone number. Mail your receipt.
I don't see why they can't go into their computer system to check that you did actually use those tickets.
Travelocity may be different from Hotwire but I have gotten miles from my tickets I bought through Travelocity.
It's worth a try.
BTW, are you using a Delta credit card? You would be surprised how quickly you can build up miles using it for everything possible. Just think of it as writing checks (instead of being credit) and then pay it off when you get your bill.

Kat got Howard's point, but everyone else is missing it, so for their benefit:
You do NOT get miles for tickets you bid on at sites like Hotwire and Priceline, period. Those flights are not eligible for miles on any airline.
Sights like Travelocity and Orbitz, which find the airlines' own cheapest prices and internet specials, are a different story. Orbitz is owned by the airlines, so of course it follows airline policy on miles.
