*G* I appreciate the humor. I just skip the juice bit during Communion. I'm not Catholic, so don't have a problem with the Holy water either. *G*

It would be interesting to find out why I can tolerate SOME wine, but virtually no regular grape juice. Any more questions will have to wait a week. TDY, then a long weekend.

Thanks Dick, that is a good suggestion. We have been to winery outets and found wines we like, except in those cases they are all produced by the same retailer. To be able to sample wines from different retailers would be better.

Thanks very much. I've had good luck with buying some of the inexpesive Chilean Reds and cellaring them for 5 years or so. Just bought some Calina carmenere for $6 and hopeful that it will be good but can't really say for a few years. It is OK now but too young to really enjoy. It is a gamble but a cheap one and fun to try

wino: While I recognize some, most are not familiar - are these mostly California wines? The liquor stores I frequent sort by country of origin.

LOL...consulting my wine cellar.

I'd like to get the full names on the labels correct.

Some of the modest price wines I've picked up are not household names.

No.. no.,,,its not that kind of wine cellar,,no cave or anything like that( I wish).

What it is ...is a refrigeration unit that keeps wines at optimum temperature for aging.

I'm no expert(not even close)...but if I find a red wine that I really like (like the california 97 cabs) I'll buy it and store it

If you notice, many wine stores mostly offer current vintages..with some of the other wines sold out.

Rancho Zabaco makes a very nice inexpensive red zinfandel.

Silver Oak Napa and Alexander are very good but somewhat overrated. They make a port that the sell out of the winery which is also good.

Men in White coats, Why are you questioning whether Dick has a wine cellar? We have a wine cellar, which while it wouldn't make the pages of Wine Spectator, certainly serves it's purpose. 3 or 4 of our friends have them as well. It's not that big of an expense, especially if you are having the basement finished (Now I know why my husband finally had that basement finished after 8 years!).

You just have the room framed and have the carpenters put insulation in the 2X4s. Now you can go hog wild and buy some expensive shelving and a fire door like someone I know , but for the time being we're using some intricately arranged concrete blocks. Fabulous!

Frog's Leap makes some fun wines. Be sure and read the label (back) and the cork if you ever get one.
