The only thing I enjoyed about Las Vegas itself was seeing "O." Gambling got boring fast. I expected to enjoy the various hotels and people watching--didn't. It didn't matter to me what the "theme" was, after a hotel or two, it was all just one big, make-believe department store. People watching centered around watching people push unhappy toddlers around in strollers at times clearly past their bedtime and places inappropriate for children. Cheap food? Sure, and it tasted like it. Any decent meal had a price on par with that of any other large city. Sure, it's cheap and with good reason. I would rather save my money and go anywhere else--even North Dakota.

It seems to me xxx that: a) "O" was the only show ya got to see? b) Gambling got boring fast cuz ya lost fast? c)ya live in a big city or been to alot and city lights/buildings bore ya no matter what? d) you went to one too many discount buffets? and e) its obvious you weren't gonna have a good time just from the text of your post, I mean come on you'd rather go to North Dakota, that in itself is being pre-negative because North Dakota is a beautiful state, you tend to evaluate a place BEFORE ya go.

Been to Vegas, not going back unless I have to. Not a gambler, sorry. Now the surrounding areas it's a different story. I'd go back to Red Rocks and the Valley of Fire in a heartbeat! In 2 weeks I'm off to Vegas just to start a tour there - Zion, Bryce, etc...

Of course between the dentist and Vegas it's Vegas

Ok, "Just," you made me smile. I didn't mean for it to be that bad, but I really didn't like it! a). I liked "O" the best probably because I saw it first, not only. b). actually, I won, but sitting in the casinos for hours did not appeal to me and to be honest, I won by dumb luck-no skill involved. c). the big city lights were great when viewed from high up and far away but lost their lustre close up. d). didn't go to any discount buffets. tried a few "meal deals" and got exactly what we paid for. We also got exactly what we paid for when we paid more. e). the comment about North Dakota was a joke, lighten up. f). Kids are not the issue. Kids in adult venues at adult times are another story.

It's not for me either. Am flying in there for the 2nd time to get to the Utah parks. It will mean being there long enough to pick up a car then heading out without a look back.

We saw Mystere while there last time and loved it. Have seen LaNouba and don't think we need another Cirque, as different as O is.

The hotels such as Bellagio or Venetian were so ostentatious it was like Disney World--something you might see once and then are forever cured of the need to go back, whereas hotels like NYNY are just plain grimy and depressing.

That volcano thing? Pulllease! Bellagio fountains, yeah, yada, buh. Not being gamblers, the only thing of interest in the casinos were the people raptly pushing the buttons, and speculating as to who and what they were. The smoke in the casinos is overwhelming!! If you aren't a smoker, doesn't it bother you? Are there smoke free casinos or smokeless areas?

This is just ME, though. If you love it, great. You've got a nice inexpensive venue for fun, and I'm sure there are plenty of you, but for many, its appeal is less than zero.

There is one thing I'd chose it over though: not the dentist, but the annual OB/GYN visit! Yup.

That's pretty funny, the OB visit. How how about the mammogram?! I might consider a trip to Vegas istead.

Actually the reason I'm writing in again is because of my observations in Atlantic City. Was there for work once and I couldn't get over how everyone giving their money away in there was so old! I was looking at them and I thought, these are the same people who resent every tax increase, are apparently having trouble paying for prescription drugs, living expenses, and long-term care - but they are feeding those slot machines like they have excess funds they have to get rid of. I don't know, I felt pretty uncomfortable about it.

Well I for one can't stand Vegas. It's a cheap, tacky town that attracts white trash since that's all they can afford. You couldn't pay me to go there again.

Come on people Get real. Vegas is not that bad. Why is it one of the most popular vacations in the world. I'd rather sit at a nice restaurant have a 5 course meal in a nice romatic setting watching the dazzling fountains than go on a camp trip and fend for my meal. Watch out for the wild loose animals and urinate in a bush. No thank you! Not my type of vacation. I'd choose Vegas in a heartbeat. Vegas offers more than slot machines and liquor. They offer some of the best entertaining shows/restaurants around.

I am grown up and despise vegas. I might have enjoyed it when I WASN'T grown up, but saw it for the first time when I was. I love hiking. Love the thrill of spotting wildlife in their natural habitat. What could be more beautiful than a sunset or sunrise over a canyon. Stars with no ambient light. Cottonwood or aspen leaves changing. Fresh air.

A dinner watching those silly fountains?? How artificial. Get real! I can and do have 4* meals any time at home, overlooking a beautiful bay far prettier than those fountains. That's my city life. Perhaps you don't have one?

Which is your fav show? Wayne The Greaser Newton? He looks pickled in formaldehyde. And how 'bout those all you can eat buffet, too, dang. Each to their own. vegas is not for me.

The problem with Vegas, and every casino town, is the incredible array of riff-raff that go there. I've never seen so many freaks concentrated in one place.

Most of the riff-raff in Vegas aren't interesting or colorful enough to warrant the label "freaks."

In order to enjoy Vegas and avoid most of the riff-raff and white trash, I stay either at The Bellagio or The Four Seasons!

Isn't possible to like more than one type of vacation? I love Vegas, but I also love Zion National Park, Valley of Fire State Park, Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, Lake Meade, the Grand Canyon and Sedona AZ. We've visited/explored/hiked all of these destinations en route to or from our Las Vegas trips. There are so many choices and so many ways to enjoy life. Please don't put me down just because I'm able to have fun in virtually any atmosphere.....including Vegas!

I like Vegas in small, short doses - 4 days every 2 years. Why?
The airport is 10 painless minutes from the hotel.
I can sleep late and never feel like I am missing something.
The shows are great, and I can actually enjoy a nice meal and not be rushed, since I have the option of the 7:30 or the 9:30. Very convenient!
I like being spoiled at the Bellagio and always enjoy the spa treatments.
There is never a problem getting a reservation at any of the finer restaurants (I don't have to call 30 days in advance at precisely 10 AM)
I meet people from all over the USA, and not freaky people, usually folks that are there for a convention of one kind or another (as we are).
There is no pressure to run around to do any cultural sight seeing on this trip, just relax and have fun! When I go to Europe, I usually return and need another vacation. Never the case with Vegas!

Well since you asked I personally did not care for it. I personally would not have a problem never going back. There are other places in the US I'd rather see.

Hated it! (Not really, I love it but hope to see more post from people who don't like it so maybe someone will see it and decide not to go. That way when I go on my next one (17th) maybe the crowds will have thinned down!) Hated it, hated it...
