How long is it taking to get renewed passports these days?

We just realized our passports expire in March 08 and DH has a business trip then (Dubai, and guess who is jealous??). Is it still taking nightmarishly long times to get passports back? I'm wondering if we should pay to expedite his.

Hi OO, there was another thread just yesterday I believe, where a poster said they got their renewal passports back in something like 15 days and they did not pay to expedite them. So it sounds as though your passports will be renewed in plenty of time before your husband's March trip.

Thanks LoveItaly! I'd missed that thread, but pulled it up after seeing your note. That's great news! Thank you for tipping me off to the other thread!

Please do not be jealous of your DH's trip to Dubai. You are not missing anything. It's all hype. They have excellent PR, but nothing behind it. You don't have to go all the way there to see a Toys R Us, a Dunkin' Donuts and a bunch of generic restaurants and hotels. I have been there numerous times and am still looking for something that is reall. Even the people are all from somewhere else (mostly Pakistan, India, the Philipines, Lebanon and Sryia).

I renewed 3 of ours last month, 12 days and 10 days respectively, and none of them were expedited.

You have PLENTY of time!

There was a news report the other night saying that the rush is past, and renewals are now speeding through the beef-up system. It's a good time to get it done. You're lucky!
