How far to drive from Sanford Airport to International Drive?

How far to drive from Sanford Airport to International Drive?
Is the distance much further from Sanford to International Drive (than Orlando Internationl to I.Drive)? Any driving tips coming off Sanford would also be useful? Not sure which Hire Car Company, but would on or off Airport be easier? Thanks in advance

Orlando Sanford International Airport is approximately 25 miles or so from International Drive. From the Orlando International airport, it is only 3 or 4 miles, much closer.
I would think it is better to rent a car right at the airport if possible, esp if you are coming soon (rainy season). Since Orl Sanford is a lot smaller airport, I would think getting a car there would be less hassle. My guess is most car rental companies at Orlando International are NOT at the airport. I know Hertz is not, for one. Only a mile or 2 away but that still adds time to your arrival/departure.
Driving tips from Sanford. 2 main ways, I4 which is direct but always being worked on and the new bypass, 417. Nice new road but this would take you too far to the east to be practical. I4 is probably your only real choice. Remember coming from Sanford area, you want I4 WEST. I4 is actually going north and south in this area so you may confuse that. From Lake Mary Blvd., both I4 East and West turn right. East goes to Daytona but you'll want WEST, towards Orlando.
