My husband and I live in San Francisco, and I wanted to post a Rave about our favorite Italian restaurant, Il Cartoccio. We eat there almost every week, and think it's the best Italian restaurant in San Francisco.

But it is very small and relatively unknown, so it is not yet mentioned in the Rants and Raves area. Can I be the first to rave about it?

Unfortunately, there's no way to rant or rave about a place not on the Fodors list. The best you can do is give a glowing review on this board.

Is it the small place on Hyde Street?

Yes, it is, FainaAgain. Between Sutter and Bush on the SW shoulder of Nob Hill.

It's part of the Nob Hill Hotel.

A buddy from my Italian class raved about it, and my husband and I agree it's the best Italian food we've had in San Francisco, including the North Beach area restaurants.

Thank you, I never knew it's so good, passing by never seen it being full. I'll try it some day.

They do a lot of pre-dinner business for the Plush Room, and the theatres in the area.

Farewell, Il Cartoccio! It's out of business. I don't know if the new place is opened already, there is a note in the window with something like "Bocco" or "Boccio".
