Gee. Terribly sorry to disturb the status quo on the board. I did not mean to offend the Hawaii lovers, nor did I think it such a big deal to make this suggestion.

I apologize, especially to Faina, who seemed terribly put out by my suggestion. And Kal, though we are not "friends" per se on this board, I have always respected your fun & lively posts and found you to be a seemingly nice person. Therefore I don't understand why you feel the need to be so harsh, or perhaps I am being too sensitive.

I do understand what the argument for not doing this, but I do have to say in my defense that I don't notice other destinations taking up as many topics as Hawaii. I will just continue to scroll past all of them like I have been up until now.

Another vote for a separate Hawaii board. If there are so many requests to make a new one, maybe someone ought to listen. Not that I wouldn't want to go there, but it seems as if there are WAY more posts for Hawaii than most others combined. I'm with you cassidy2002, you're not alone!

cassidy2002 - I'm with the others that I think it would be bad for the Hawaii posts and posters to segregate it (and I'm not one of them having never been and with no plans to go in the forseeable future).

But, one thing I've noticed is that I don't think there are necessarily an inordinate number of Hawaii posts (there are a lot, but that's true of other places as well). Rather, I think you see them in clumps. The posters knowledgeable of Hawaii, even more so than for other areas, seem to log on and answer many questions at once, so all of a sudden there could be 10 Hawaii posts in a row that one person answered around the same time. Other times you won't find any Hawaii posts in the top 50 because it's been a while since someone logged on who could answer them.

So, sometimes it seems like they're taking over, but give it a couple hours and they've all gone away again.

What is it about "they tried it and it didn't work" that you don't understand?

I've noticed that some posters feel like this is 'their' board, especially if they post often, and they get offended if someone dares not agree with how the board is run. I'm not pointing fingers, because it's not necessarily people on this thread that I'm talking about.

But hey, this is Fodor's board--not ours. We're all just visitors and have equal rights to throw out a wish list or two. Who cares if something was suggested before? Not everyone's been around here for years and years and that's a good thing--keeps us from getting stagnant. Poor Cassidy's probably wondering what hornets' nest she ran into...

suze...lol point taken....I normally wouldn't categorize myself as a complainer, I think I was just frustrated at the time from an aching scrolling finger from whipping past all the Hawaii posts. I guess I need a vacation! Good thing I leave for Sedona next Monday!

The beauty of this board & America in general is that we are able to have our opinion and post them as we see fit! Thanks for all of the constructive replies.......

I also would like to say sorry for my slightly snippy post earlier, I just don't understand why some people have to be so mean about little things some times. But, my starting this thread could be interpreted as mean too. Oh well. Live & learn.

O

I'm just a soul whose intentions are gooooood...Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstoood....."

cass2-
Me? Harsh?
I guess maybe because I used all caps and exclamation marks and said "for pete's sake"?
No wait...that wasn't me. :-?

I was the one who used all caps and exclamation points on "yea" and wondered if your computer had a "Fodors moment" where almost all the threads were on one location...like has happened before.

Yep...in America one person's "harsh" is one person's "snippy".

And I'll defend to the death your right to post a request to have Fodor's have a separate Hawaii board.

And...whatever yah do, DO NOT let Faina2 buy you any limoncello!

jor-I'll vote for you! On Fridays only of course!
Paul- 288!!!!
L'Italy-I had Mrs Kal's cookin' so there will be another big wind a blowin' soon.

jlm_mi-By Jove! I think you've got it!

Now, on to: kkcr.org/live/live.html

Given the addictive qualities for some posters, why not ask Fodors to set up a Keyboard Anonymous, just to help people wean themselves off this site. I've noticed frequent posters rarely travel. Is posting thus undercutting the purpose for the site? Just a thought.

Even people who don't travel can advise others regarding the area they live.

Okay, I don't understand what "288" means. Hmmmm.....???

Is there still such a thing as Maui Waui? Or is that just a fragmentation of my poor Michigan upbringing?

*confused*

Hmmm - I'd guess Kal has a trip to Hawaii planned and was leaving in 288 days when he posted that. Just counting down along with you!

I just checked. Of the first 100 posts now, 10 were about California and 17 were about Hawaii.

I vote for a separate Hawaii board.
