Houston to New Orleans by car

Hi all,

Will be driving from Houston to New Orleans in the next few weeks. Just wondering if there is anything that we shouldn't miss along the way? Will be driving on a Sunday, so hoping the traffic won't be bad....

Thanks,

Laura

Yeah, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to bypass Beaumont and Orange - two rather dumpy towns in East Texas.

Unless you're detouring off I-10 to go into some of the River Road plantations en route to New Orleans, or have a specific desire to go to Baton Rouge, the drive is far more a means to an end than a meandering sightseeing route.

Thanks for your quick response!

Is Baton Rouge worth a detour? I love the name!

Find out about Cajuns, Cajun country, Cajun music, and Cajun Food. It would be a shame to come all the way from Dublin and miss Lafayette, Breaux Bridge and the other Cajun towns.
