Houseboat bachelor party

I am looking for a location in California where we can rent a houseboat for a bachelor party/water ski trip. I am looking for a picturesque lake with a vibrant young party scene. Any recommendations fodorites?

I think you are looking for something that doesn't exist. It's not like there are lakes that allow house boats and have a rockin party scene.

If you houseboat on the Delta then you might be able to dock at some places where you could party.

Sunset Bar & Grill has a rep for being a party place.

Actually Lake Havasu has a big party scene. However, the season has passed since its a Spring/Summer scene.

I am thinking that Lake Havasu is in AZ and Lake Powell is on the AZ/UT border.

Thought the OP was looking for a CA location but maybe my reading skills are not as good as others.

Having lived in So Cal my entire life I can't think of a Lake around that allows/rents house boats, etc... BUT Lake Havasu sounds to me like the place you are truly looking for. PARTY, PARTY, PARTY and I think this would be a great location for a all-out Bachelor party. But Havasu is somewhat seasonal....Maybe even Laughlin then you can go out on the lake by day and Gamble by night.

"Lake Powell"

Maybe you're thinking of Lake Mead? Not in CA but pretty close.

Suzie, the CA/AZ border runs right through Lake Havasu.

Don't really know why you posted this again - but you need to tell us more. My response to your other thread was mostly about houseboats in northern CA.

California is a BIG place - which part(s) were you thinking of? Also, when is this party weekend? That makes a huge difference.

Sorry. I meant Lake Powell, but hadn't noticed the OP had asked for California. It's close enough, maybe? I've always heard of lots of guys doing big houseboat parties there. Mostly more upscale, and not college age, though.

Lake Shasta? Several friends have rented there for vacation. The Delta? Rentals out of Stockton off of Eight Mile Road. Where to go wild and party, I can't tell you.

Not in California, but Lake Mead is only 45 minutes from Las Vegas:

Maybe you can bookend your houseboat trip with a couple of nights partying in Vegas?

I don't know about a party scene, but my friends always rent a houseboat on Lake Shasta. Here's one site that rents them:

What time of year? Lake Tahoe would be my choice. Don't know about houseboats, but it sure meets the picturesque lake part and definitely the party part.

There are no houiseboats on Tahoe. Imagine how they would ruin the lake.
