Hotels Recommendations in Midtown Manhattan

Specifically, the Chelsea/KoreaTown/NoMad area. I have to be there for work late next month, and don't have reservations yet. My employer is telling me to limit to $350 or below, if possible. Any recommendations from Fodorites? I will be alone, so I don't need a large room. I am there on business, so I don't need a spa or "pampering." I don't care about 4-star dining, but having restaurant option in the hotel itself would be nice. And I prefer "quiet" to "happening." I don't know all the transportation options available, but I know I'm flying into JFK and will either take the AirTrain/LIRR to Penn Station, or splurge and get a taxi. I love to walk, so that's why I'm looking at options over a larger area.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or hidden gems you feel like sharing.
Udd.

$350 a night should get you near-Luxury in late February.

I can recommend the Cambria Hotel on 28th Street, and I've heard that the Broadway Plaza is nice.

P.S. do you love to walk when it's 22 degrees outside?

We have stayed at a number of hotels on 29th and 28th Street, all within walking distance of Penn Station. Wouldn't call them hidden gems, but they were all fine and fairly quiet. All had bar food and menus but none had the kind of space for an actual full-blown restaurant. Plenty of food places nearby. I think the one we stayed the last time was the Doubletree and I think the others were next to the aforementioned Cambria.

My favourite hotel in Manhattan is the Omni Berkshire. The location can't be beat (52nd between Fifth and Madison). The rooms are generous and the service is good. If you're a member (and you should sign up) they offer my favourite hotel perk. They'll deliver complimentary hot coffee or tea to your room in the morning, in carafes with real cups and linen napkins. So much nicer than the in-room coffee maker with powdered whitener! There's a new steakhouse in the hotel and lots of places to eat nearby.

Thank you for the suggestions! (And I do not mind walking in 20 degree weather, I have very warm clothing and my "ski" underwear to keep warm).

DH enjoyed the Gershwin quite a few years ago. It became the Evelyn:

No first-hand info since it was redone.
