hotels on long island

I am attending a wedding on Long Island in a couple of weeks and need help with a hotel. The wedding is in Flushing and the reception is in Island Park. Wedding party is staying at the LI Marriott and Conference Center.. Have also seen the Garden City Hotel. An advice? Anything nice on the water??

The Marriott is a good location for you, since it is right off Meadowbrook Pkwy, between the Long Island Expressway and Southern State. Island Park is accessible from Meadowbrook, with an exit just before Jones Beach. The Garden City Hotel is beautiful, and although I've only eaten there, I suspect it would be a step up from the Marriott, but it will add time to both locations, simply becase it's not quickly accessible to a main road.

I can't think of a good hotel on the water. Now, there's something that I'm sure would be a success!

Last summer we went to a wedding in Port Washington and we stayed at the Claremont Hotel in Roslyn, off 25A - Norhtern Blvd. We were VERY pleased. Our room was very pretty and very quiet. The location was perfect. I grew up in Flushing and this hotel is fairly convenient to Flushing and Island Park. Look into it. All the other hotels in the area are boring.

Garden City Hotel is Beautiful! We stayed there for our Anniversary & loved it. There are no hotels on the beach in Island Park. You may want to try The Danford Inn in Port Jefferson. I believe it is on the water or close to it. It will take you about 45 minutes to get there from Island Park were as the Garden City Hotel will take you about 20-30 minutes.

If location and convenience are most important, go for the Marriott. Close to the pkwy, about 25-30 min to Island Park. GC hotel is nicer, but not as accessible...

There is also a brand new Hampton Inn in Rockville Centre (just opened). If cost is an issue, it is probably a little cheaper than the Marriott. I don't believe there are any "reputable" hotels in either Island Park or Long Beach (next town south).

If there's a new Hampton Inn in Rockville Center, I'd consider that, if convenience to both locations is your top priority. It is about 15 min. from Island Park, and is close to Southern State Pkwy. just minutes into Nassau from Queens.
