Hotels - Miami Cruise Terminal

Hi

Can anyone recommend 4 and 5* hotels near to the Royal Caribbean Cruise Terminal - only required for one night, so as near as possible!

Many thanks.

Why the closest? None are within walking distance so you will need to take a taxi anyway. Do you have to be at the ship by 7 AM; is that the reason for being close? This is often asked here and the usual response is to stay somewhere nicer since you have to take a taxi to and from there anyway. But probably the closest nice place is either the Hyatt or the Intercontinental. Other than walking through the typically touristy mall near the port, there is really no reason to stay near the port.

Hi Patrick

Thank you for your response to my posting. We are travelling from the UK and will have been in Florida for about a week before arriving in Miami. We don't plan to be in Miami until late afternoon, the day before our cruise (which embarks around 1pm), so as long as the hotel is pleasant, we aren't too concerned about staying on Collins Avenue, as due to our timings, we're not really going to have time to sightsee! We just want to drop the car off and be in Miami the night before, to assure ourselves that we are going to make embarkation!

Do you have any other recommendations?

Kind regards.
M

I think I'd stick with the Intercontinental then. It is right out on a point near the terminal and quite a nice hotel. Check the Intercontinental website for special pricing. Otherwise there is the very new and supposedly wonderful Mandarin Oriental not too far away. They are supposed to have a wonderful restaurant there also. I'd still prefer to go somewhere like the Loew's on South Beach -- only about 10 or 15 minutes or so by taxi to the terminal and you'd have the afternoon and morning to stroll Lincoln road area, or just enjoy the beach and the hotel. And you could have a very nice dinner somewhere around there -- the possibilities are endless. Depending upon your car rental company, you might even be able to drop your car off right there rather than at the airport if that was your plan.

The intercontinental is nice, the Mandarin would be a nice treat. Be careful with the Wyhndam dowtown. It's a beautiful hotel but it's in an abandoned shopping center and in a questionable part of town. If you get a ride to the hotel lobby and leave directly from the lobby it's ok but don't walk around. It may be cheaper than the intercontinental. If you're going out early in the a.m. and just need a place to sleep then downtown is probably ok.
