Hotels in NYC

I am taking a group of students to New York and have the choice between 2 Times Square hotels: The Edison and the Sheraton Towers. I've stayed at The Muse, but that would be a little pricey for students. Tripadvisor.com rates the Muse at 40/347 rated hotels; the Edison at 75/347, and the Sheraton at 225/347. Seems like a no brainer, but I just wanted to see if there are any overwhelming opinions given these two choices!

I don't put much, if any, stock in those ratings. I think the Sheraton New York & Towers (that's its full name) is a better facility. And, frankly, if I was taking a group of students to NYC, as a chaperone, I don't think I'd want them staying right in the heart of Times Square (i.e., the Edison), but rather a little north of it at 52nd Street (i.e., the Sheraton).

PS: An advantage of staying at the the Sheraton New York is that you'd be able to use the pool at the Sheraton Manhattan which is diagonally across the stress.

Howard, what a great typo -- or should I say Freudian slip. Taking a group of students to New York would be a good reason to find a pool across the stress!

Definitely the Sheraton is a better location for students - even semi-adult ones - as I assume they are. Fewer immediate opportunities to get into trouble - or be overwhelmed.

I'd go with the Sheraton for the reasons stated above and also I think it's a little more updated than the Edison.

Ah yes, it wasn't my first funny goof on the forum and probably won't be my last!
More important, I'm glad to see that other posters agree with my recommendation.

Definitely agree with Howard on the Sheraton. I too have made Freudian slips here.
