Hotels: Hyatt or The Reach?

I have reservations at both of these resorts. I know the location of the Hyatt is more desirable. But has anyone stayed there lately? Is it nice? Also, are the non-ocean-view rooms okay?

Thanks for any assistance.

I'd stick with the Hyatt. I've stayed there several times in recent years and like it a lot. By "non-oceanview" rooms, do you mean at the Hyatt? I think virtually all their rooms - with a handful of exceptions - have at least a Gulf view, if not Gulf frontage.

We stayed at the Hyatt back in May. It was terrific! I would stay there again in a heartbeat. The rooms and grounds were immaculate. Have a great trip.

Thanks for the reassurance! I am glad to hear that the property has been kept up. I keep reading posts regarding the "decline" of Key West, and how tired the island has gotten. As it is one of my favorite places, and I actually miss the old days before Hooters & Hard Rock, I only wish that "tired" meant a return to the quaint "old days".

Nita - just make sure you get the Hyatt Resort and Marina on Front Street. There are several other Hyatts in Key West these days!

Susan why don't you go somewhere else honey. You get on my every last nerve with your pretentious, uppity, know it all attitude.

As to the decline of Key West, yes it is in decline. The influx of cruise ships ruined the place IMO.

Ahem! Ladies!
Matilda,
Please share any thoughts/suggestions regarding new things in Key West. My last trip was two years ago. Does the Half Shell Raw Bar still have the best conch chowder?

Things in Key West change all the time. If it wasn't open last time you went down check out The Catch restaraunt. It was very good but very small.
