Hotel Turn Down Service... Who needs it?

1) cultural history note, "turndown service" initially meant just a nice preparation of the room for bedtime (drawing curtains, turning down bed, neatening up a bit), and didn't involve candy!! I vaguely remember hearing about the candy thing at some point in my life.
2) and--I really like it very much. Especially if I'm travelling alone, it makes the room feel less lonely if I come home to it and see that someone has provided me with this extra care.
And I grew up staying in this kind of place once a year with my famly in the summer, pre-candy.
3) and as someone has pointed out, if one truly doesn't like it I am sure the housekeeping staff is happy to be relieved of a little job while you are there!!
