Hotel Recommendations in South Beach

I am planning a trip to South Beach in September and I need hotel (moderate price range) recommendations. Has anyone stayed at the Governor? Thank you.

I am going to South Beach this weekend and am staying at the Governor. When I return, I will let you know what I thought.

The Thunderbird Hotel on Collins Avenue , Sunny Isles maybe is not the exact location you are looking for. However, it is right on the beach, the food is good, rooms are clean and it is good value for money.
I am from England and stayed at the T-BIRD several years ago.

We stayed at the Leslie a couple of winters ago and loved it. We were told it is one of the five original hotels that were restored. It's right on the beach in the heart of South Beach. What do you call moderate? September is off-season. Two years ago, its off-season rates started at $95. Its number is 305-534-2135. There are a lot more to choose from.

Hi. I stayed at the Governor this past weekend. The location is pretty good (21st St). Its a reasonable walk to Lincoln Rd and a bit of a longer walk to Ocean Drive which is where you want to end up. The hotel is basic - has a pool and a bar. The rooms are old but clean. The service is pretty bad. But for the price (we paid about $80), we were satisfied.

There is a hotel which I've heard is okay and moderately priced called the Beachcomber which is in a much better location, on Collins near Ocean Drive (can't remember the cross street). You might want to check it out.

If you want to email me to ask me more specific questions, please do.

I took my wife to South Beach last Sept.. We stayed at the Essex Hotel on Collins one short block from everything. You have to walk down to the Delano Hotel..Madona use to own. It is really cool!!!!

Please let me recommend the best Italian rest. I have been to in along time...and Ive been to Italy, it's called Osteria del Teatro..WOW

The stone crabs won't be in season yet but there is a place that serves frozen crabs ..not bad...Joe's won't be open.
