Hotel recommendation in LA
My husband and I will be in LA for a few days before the Memorial Day weekend. We have been to LA before and stayed at the Beverly Wiltshire but it is renovated and more than we want to spend. I have been looking at the Beverly Plaza but before I book, I wanted some suggestions. We are focused on BH because it seems to be closest to the sites we want to visit. Suggestions?

I am not terribly familiar with Beverly Hills, as we usually stay in Marina del Rey to be near the water. There is a newly re-constructed hotel there, The Jamaica Bay Inn, where we will stay in May. They have a special now which includes parking (normally $20/day, I think), and breakfast for two.
Here are some others I have seen recommended, although we have not tried them:
Hotel Palomar boutique hotel in Westwood area
Hotel Angeleno, near Beverly Hills/Santa Monica
Brentwood Inn, on Sunset Drive
We stayed once at the Sheraton Delfina, very near the Santa Monica beach. It is a nice hotel with good prices.
Marina del Rey also has a Ritz Carlton and a Marriott.

Have you looked at the Elan Hotel? It's a small boutique hotel. Rooms are not really big, but very comfortable with nice amenities and teriffic service. Brreakfast and a well-stocked wine & snackfest in the early evening is included. It is very close (walk or drive) to the Beverly Center.

Despite the hotel's name, the Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel is not in Beverly Hills, but it is closer to the 405 freeway, the Getty Center, Santa Monica, etc.
(FWIW, the Crowne Plaza Beverly Hills Hotel at South Beverly and Pico isn't technically in Beverly Hills either.)
The Kimpton Palomar Hotel is a few blocks farther west (away from Beverly Hills) and gets significantly better reviews than the BH Plaza Hotel.
If you want to be IN Beverly Hills, look at the Mosaic Hotel or the Raffles L'Ermitage Hotel.
