We wiil be arriving in San Jose C.A at 10.30 pm, and will be renting a car. Can anybody suggest a good hotel, reasonably priced, and not to far from the airport.
We will be driving down to LA and will spend a night in Santa Barbara. Any good/reasonable hotel by the water

There are several chain hotels close to the airport - Courtyard Marriot and others along those same lines. These would be your best bet. If you can use Priceline, you can probably get a really good deal.

I just stayed at the Moorpark Hotel last night. I got it for $122 on Hotwire but they had good rates on their site too. Very nice boutique hotel. Great comfy beds, 15 mins from the airport, just off 280, pool, robes, restaurant, etc. Also it's very near the new Santana Row shopping mall which is gorgeous!

try the Arena Hotel, 817 The Alameda, San Jose
We send our clients there and they love it and it's <$100/night and includes breakfast

Tropicana Inn is a good choice in Santa Barbara. Coast Village Inn is reasonable, just off the 101 Freeway in Montecito, a few miles south of Santa Barbara. Walk to restaurants & beach.

Hi, SSA!

The closest hotel to San Jose Airport is the Doubletree Hotel which is advertised as being only 0.3 miles east of the Airport. You may be able to get a room there at about $89 which is the lowest advertised rate. Last I know, they have their own shuttle service, so you may be able to spend the night there, then have them drive you to the airport to pick up your car the next morning.

The other recommendations are good ones, particularly the Moorpark Hotel, which is relatively new.

If you want to start on your way south, you could drive on Highway 101 for about 15-20 to Bernal Road exit, where there is a Residence Inn (start $79) as well as a Holiday Inn South San Jose ($159)

Or another 10 minutes south of that on Highway 101 and you will find a bunch of standard hotels in Morgan Hill: a Best Western, Courtyard by Marriott, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express...the Best Western starts at $65.

Arriving that late at night, you will have to drive quite a bit to be near the ocean. About an hour over Highway 17 will put you in Santa Cruz. Wasn't certain whether you wanted to be near the water in Santa Barbara or from San Jose.

Did you want to be near the water the first night in San Jose?

The $89 for the Doubletree is the best rate as the Doubletree is rated (by AAA) as a Four Diamond Hotel while the others are all Three Diamonds.

Good luck! And welcome to California!

Franciscan Inn is a nice inexpensive Santa Barbara hotel by walking distance to the beach.

You're a twisted person, "jason888/Devinson/Chillin, etc etc".
Always posting the same thing under different names.

Look at your salutation in your 2 notes above "Hi SSA".
It's obvious you're just posting over and over under different names.

Why do you do this?

My advice to SSA would be to land, get into your rental car, and drive like a bat out of hell to get out of San Jose as fast as you can.

Isn't there another airport you can fly into instead of San Jose?

Ted Turner:

I am jason888. I have posted ONLY as jason888.

I have NEVER reposted anything.

Please, PLEASE PLEASE</> do not connect my name to that of the nutty multiple poster. <groan> You are falling victim to his tactics of confusion when he lumps together anyone who disagrees with him and accuses them of being "one person".

If you click on my name, you will see that I have posted numerous messages over several months, not just in the last day or two, and NONE of my messages repeat themselves.

In fact, you will find my posts more in DISAGREEMENT with Devinson or whatever he chooses to call himself than not.

Thanks!
Jason, and ONLY Jason

San Jose airport is very close to downtown. There is a Holiday Inn and a Hilton across the street from each other right downtown SJ.
