Hmmm...just replied to this question, but it didn't post. Here goes again.
There's a Best Western in Rohnert Park also, and it's fine for your purpose. I've stayed there several times. Go on-line and check out their rates and phone to reserve. There's an AAA discount. Check out Amerisuites (Santa Rosa South) too.
Our son graduated from SSU's Hutching School a year and a half ago. He absolutely loved his college experience, and we feel like he good a very good education there.

lynnaro, while the Best Western Garden Inn has always looked to me like a pleasant, well-maintained (if rather old) property, I'd steer any young woman traveling alone (as it sounds like you might be) from its location on Santa Rosa Ave. running south from downtown Santa Rosa. Unfortunately, that strip is the armpit of this otherwise delightful city. Besides being dreary, it has had the reputation of being the area's most active center of prostitution.
Stay in Rohnert Park instead. The Best Western is probably a very good choice. If you don't get a good deal in Rohnert Park for some reason, I would look south to Petaluma both for convenience to SSU and pleasant surroundings. I might mention that even the Motel 6's in Rohnert Park and Petaluma are in pleasant, busy areas and I would much rather know my daughter was staying at either one than in a more expensive place on Santa Rosa Ave. (Although I doubt that the late night service at the Motel 6 Petaluma is quite as world-class as it was ten years ago, when I spent a few months as the night desk clerk and auditor there.)
