According to the site, it takes 18 minutes from Ballston to the Smithsonian and 14 minutes from Woodley Park to the Smithsonian >
And Ballston is not boondocks but an "Urban Village", cf.

14 minutes from Woodley Park to Smithsonian? Only for those with exceptionally good luck. If you have to wait five minutes for a train at Woodley and again at Metro, that's 10 minutes right there, plus walking time between trains. 14 minutes must mean actual train time, which is, well . . . not very helpful when you're waiting on the platform.
